It is a subsidiary of Bangladesh Gas Fields Company Limited (BGFCL). The geo-structure of the gas field area is dome-shaped, with an area of about 64 square kilometers.

It was under the Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation of the Ministry of Industries. Khan Javed Anwar is the Managing Director of Jamuna Fertilizer Company Limited. It is one of the largest fertilizer factories in Bangladesh.
