Bakri Wahab was an Indonesian politician,belonging to the Communist Party of Indonesia (PKI). Bakri Wahab was the mayor of Salatiga 1961-1966. [1] [2]
A Pekalongan origin,Wahab became the Mayor of Salatiga in 1961,replacing Soewandi Martosoewojo. He was a PKI member. [3]
After the 30 September Movement incident,Wahab was arrested on 1 November 1965,and his fate was unknown. [3]
Sukarno was an Indonesian statesman,orator,revolutionary,and nationalist who was the first president of Indonesia,serving from 1945 to 1967.
The Communist Party of Indonesia was a communist party in the Dutch East Indies and later Indonesia. It was the largest non-ruling communist party in the world before its violent disbandment in 1965. The party had two million members in the 1955 elections,with 16 percent of the national vote and almost 30 percent of the vote in East Java. During most of the period immediately following the Indonesian Independence until the eradication of the PKI in 1965,it was a legal party operating openly in the country. The Thirtieth of September Movement was a self-proclaimed organization of Indonesian National Armed Forces members. In the early hours of 1 October 1965,they assassinated six Indonesian Army generals in an abortive coup d'état. Later that morning,the organization declared that it was in control of media and communication outlets and had taken President Sukarno under its protection. By the end of the day,the coup attempt had failed in Jakarta. Meanwhile,in central Java there was an attempt to take control over an army division and several cities. By the time this rebellion was put down,two more senior officers were dead.

Guided Democracy,also called the Old Order,was the political system in place in Indonesia from 1959 until the New Order began in 1966. This period followed the dissolution of the liberal democracy period in Indonesia by President Sukarno,who centralized control in the name of political stability. He claimed to have based the system based on the traditional village system of discussion and consensus,which occurred under the guidance of village elders. On the national level,however,this meant centralized rule under Sukarno:martial law,a massive reduction in civil liberties and democratic norms,and the Indonesian National Armed Forces and Communist Party of Indonesia acting as major power blocs.

Large-scale killings and civil unrest primarily targeting members and supposed sympathizers of the Communist Party of Indonesia (PKI) were carried out in Indonesia from 1965 to 1966. Other affected groups included alleged communist sympathisers,Gerwani women,trade unionists,ethnic Javanese Abangan,ethnic Chinese,atheists,so-called "unbelievers",and alleged leftists in general. According to the most widely published estimates at least 500,000 to 1 million people were killed,with some estimates going as high as two to three million. The atrocities,sometimes described as a genocide or a politicide,were instigated by the Indonesian Army under Suharto. Research and declassified documents demonstrate the Indonesian authorities received support from foreign countries such as the United States and the United Kingdom.

Brigadier General Raden Panji Nugroho Notosusanto was an Indonesian short story writer turned military historian who served as a professor of history at the University of Indonesia. Born to a noble family in Central Java,he exhibited a high degree of nationalism from a young age. During the Indonesian National Revolution from 1945 to 1949,he saw active service as a member of the Student Army,working reconnaissance. Despite wanting to remain in the military,under the influence of his father he continued his education,eventually enrolling in the faculty of literature at the University of Indonesia. During the 1950s he wrote extensively and was active in numerous political and academic groups,finally graduating with a degree in history in 1958.
Wikana was an Indonesian minister and independence leader. He was one of the youths who forced Sukarno and Hatta to declare independence immediately after the surrender of the Japanese. He was the first Indonesian Minister of Youth and Sport. He was a member of the Indonesian Communist Party. Sometime after the 1965 coup d'état attempt,he was arrested and went missing. It is supposed that he was one of the assassinated in the Indonesian mass killings of 1965–66.

Moerachman was an Indonesian politician who served as the mayor of Surabaya,East Java,between 1963 and 1965. Although not a member of the Indonesian Communist Party,he was strongly supported by the party during his political career. In the aftermath of the 30 September Movement,he was removed from his post,imprisoned and,allegedly after being escorted out of his cell by soldiers,disappeared—likely executed.
Satrio Sastrodiredjo was an Indonesian physician and politician of the Indonesian Communist Party. He served as the Vice Governor of East Java between 1963 and 1965,and previously as the mayor of Surabaya between 1958 and 1963. His political career was cut short after the 30 September movement and he was imprisoned.
The Semarang City Regional House of Representatives is the unicameral municipal legislature of the city of Semarang,Central Java,Indonesia. It has 50 members,who are elected every five years,simultaneously with the national legislative election.
Raden Oetomo Ramelan was a former Mayor of Surakarta who served from 17 February 1958 to 23 October 1965. He was known as the only Mayor of Surakarta who came from the Indonesian Communist Party (PKI). Oetomo was sentenced to death by the Extraordinary Military Court (Mahmilub) on 22 June 1967,and shortly after that,he most likely faced execution.
