A critic from The Times of India wrote that "Overall, Balamevvadu touches a chord by highlighting the plight of commoners when they believe in the medical system. The unique way of presenting this fact makes it a decent watch". [2] A critic from Cinema Express wrote that "Balamevvadu is a decent love story which explores love in the first half and exposes the medical mafia in the second half". Ponniyin Selvan: I is a 2022 Indian Tamil-language epic action drama film directed by Mani Ratnam, who co-wrote it with Elango Kumaravel and B. Jeyamohan. Produced by Ratnam and Subaskaran Allirajah under Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions, it is the first of two cinematic parts based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's 1955 novel, Ponniyin Selvan. The film stars an ensemble cast including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan,Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Jayaram, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prakash Raj, Prabhu, R. Sarathkumar, R.
