Balavihar Matriculation Higher Secondary School (BVMS) is the first private matriculation school in Tamil Nadu which was established in 1971 in Panruti , Tamil Nadu, India. [1] And had more than 10 branches in various part of Cuddalore district. But now due to the demise of the illustrious founder of this school Lion V Jagannathan, the school faced many hurdles and then finally closed operations in many branches and now only few of the branches are in operation .

John Duraisamy, who requested the Archbishop of Pondy Cuddalore to open an all-boys English-language school in Neyveli. St.Paul's Matriculation Higher Secondary School is a brother institution of St.Joseph's of Cluny, Neyveli. St.Joseph's of Cluny started on 15 July 1968, swelled into 2300 students by 1975, with only VII standards. The segregation of the boys in a separate school was very keenly felt, and the time, in the providence of God, was not yet ripe. The challenge of opening this boys' school was accepted by the then Archbishop of Pondicherry and Cuddalore on 29 June 1977 and was inaugurated by MR. This college, during its inception was under the administrative control of Anna University Tiruchirappalli. Dr.V.Ramachandran was the Founder Vice Chancellor of this university and he spearheaded the process of starting 6 new engineering colleges each at Ariyalur, Pattukottai, Thirukkuvalai, Panruti, Dindigul and Ramanathapuram.
