History

The club was founded in 2002. The predecessor clubs were AD EDM Torrelavega and BMT Cuatrocaños. [2] Since the 2021/2022 season, the team has been playing in the highest Spanish league, Liga ASOBAL. [3] In 2024, the team reached the final of the Copa del Rey, where the best Spanish team won the silver medal against FC Barcelona. [4]

It was first played for in 1985 and was disputed between the Liga ASOBAL champions and the winners of the Copa del Rey de Balonmano. It was played as a single match, at a neutral venue and in different cities every year. In 2022 it was replaced by Supercopa Ibérica.
