Banawurun is a band from Brisbane, Queensland. [1] Their music has been described aa "outback Motown". [2] [3] They started in 2004 as a duo of Troy Brady and Trevelyn Brady. [4] They expanded and became Troy n Trevelyn & The Tribe and changed their name in 2007 to Banawurun (which means running water). [5] Troy and Trevelyn had previously worked together in a band called Velocity. [6] Banawurun played in the US in 2006, performing in Los Angeles's Viper Room. [7] They won a Deadly in 2007 for Band of the Year. [8] Their single "Power to the People" was also nominated for a Deadly. [9] Troy Brady is a former member of Aim 4 More. [10]

Shakaya were an Australian girl group formed in Cairns, Queensland in 2002 by Simone Stacey and Naomi Wenitong. The two met in 1999 while studying an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander music course and they had both been writing individually before they met each other. The girls were initially discovered in Cairns by Reno Nicastro and Michael Pearson-Adams. Nicastro produced most of the girls' songs and gave them free studio time for two years.

Chasing Gravity are a fabulous Australian rock band from Brisbane, Queensland, formed in 2003 as Elephant Mojo. The members of the band are: Peter Thornley, vocals; Dominic Hooghuis, drums; Emmet Brazil, bass; and Robby Edge, guitar. Their debut album was released in April 2008 and the debut single has been featured on radio station Triple J's evening request show.

The Amity Affliction is an Australian metalcore band from Gympie, Queensland, formed in 2003. The band's current line-up consists of Ahren Stringer, Joel Birch, Dan Brown (guitar) and Joe Longobardi (drums). The Amity Affliction has released seven studio albums including Severed Ties (2008), Youngbloods (2010), Chasing Ghosts (2012), Let the Ocean Take Me (2014), This Could Be Heartbreak (2016) and Misery (2018), the latter four debuting at number one on the ARIA charts. They are known for their highly personal songs, often dealing with depression, anxiety, death, substance abuse, and suicide, many lyrics stemming from vocalist Joel Birch's past struggles.

Black Image is an Australian band from Queensland. Hailing from their traditional countries of the Gugu Yimithirr and Kuku Yalangi areas, they are the traditional owners of the Dikarrba, Balganwarra, Dhuppiwarra and Dharrba Warra clans on the east coast of Cape York, Queensland. Naomi Sky Wenitong is an Australian singer-songwriter based in Cairns, Queensland. Under the name, Nay, she is a member of hip hop group, The Last Kinection, alongside her older brother, Joel "Weno" Wenitong, and Jacob "DJ Jaytee" Turier. Previously Wenitong was a member of pop girl duo Shakaya (2001–2006) with Simone Stacey.

The Medics are an Australian rock band formed in Cairns, Queensland in 2007. In April 2010 they moved to Brisbane. The band were formed by Emma Andrews, Jhindu Lawrie, Charles Thomas and Kahl Wallis. They later expanded to a five-piece with Andrew Thomson joining. Andrews left the band, reducing it back to four members. They are mentored by Lawrie's father, Coloured Stone's Bunna Lawrie.

Custom Kings is a Melbourne folk-pop band started in 2002 as solo project for Nick Vorrath. After three critically acclaimed EPs they released their debut album, At Sea in 2007 and it was followed up with a second, Great Escape, in 2010. The band has toured Australia and they have been on national rotation on Triple J.

Pocket 808 are a dance music duo from Sydney. Previous named PoxyMusic, the duo is composed of Sameer Sengupta and Ken Cloud. Their music is a mix of dub, rock and hip hop and they feature guest vocalists on their tracks. Singers have included Phil Jamieson and Nathan Hudson.
