Siril Pettus, known professionally as Bandmanrill, is an American rapper and songwriter from Newark, New Jersey. He is currently signed to 100%Pure and Warner Music Group [2] and is noted as a pioneer of the hip-hop scene with his fusing of elements of Jersey club and drill. [3]
Bandmanrill began rapping in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. In April 2021, he released his track "Heartbroken" which was selected by Pitchfork as the "must-hear rap song of the day". [4] In November 2021, he released a freestyle titled "Tonight’s Da Night Freestyle". [5] In August 2022, he released his single titled "Real Hips", [6] which is described by Jon Caramanica of The New York Times as "a surprisingly luscious and nimble offering from the Newark rapper Bandmanrill that makes plain the through lines that connect drill music, Jersey club and bass music". [7] In October 2022, he released his debut project Club Godfather., [8] which contains collaborations with NLE Choppa, Lay Bankz, Skaiwater, Sha EK, and DJ Swill B.
Godfather Buried Alive is the second studio album by Belizean-American rapper Shyne. It was released on August 10, 2004 by Def Jam and Murder Inc. while Shyne was in the middle of serving a 10-year jail sentence for a 1999 shooting in New York City. The album included 13 tracks, 12 of which were previously recorded vocals, while one was recorded over the phone from jail. It features guest appearances from Kurupt, Nate Dogg, Foxy Brown and Ashanti, and production from Kanye West, Swizz Beatz, Mike Dean and Just Blaze, among others. The album debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200 with 158,000 copies sold in its first week, making Shyne the second rapper after 2Pac to have an album debut in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 while incarcerated.
Drill is a subgenre of hip hop music that originated in Chicago in the early 2010s. It is sonically similar to the trap music subgenre and lyrically similar to the gangsta rap subgenre. Early drill artists are noted for their explicit, confrontational style of lyricism and association with crime in Chicago, especially the Black Disciples and Gangster Disciples. The genre progressed into the American mainstream in 2012 following the success of pioneering rappers like Chief Keef, Lil Reese, Lil Durk, Fredo Santana, G Herbo, Lil Bibby and King Louie, who had many local fans and a significant internet presence alongside producer Young Chop. Jersey club is a style of electronic club music that originated in Newark, New Jersey in the early 2000s. It was pioneered by DJ Tameil, Mike V, DJ Tim Dolla, and DJ Black Mic of the Brick Bandits crew, who were inspired by Baltimore club's uptempo hybrid of house and hip hop. Other young producers also pushed for the progression of this style of music in the late 2000s.

Brooklyn drill is a regional subgenre of drill music, which is a subgenre of rap music. It centered in Brooklyn, New York, that began as derivative of the drill music scene in Chicago and later became derivative of UK drill with its 808 percussion and sliding notes by producers from the UK drill scene. Brooklyn drill emerged around 2014 with the single "Hot Nigga" from the rapper Bobby Shmurda. Other early contributors were Rowdy Rebel, Bam Bino, Money Millz, Dah Dah and Curly Savv.
