Siril Pettus, known professionally as Bandmanrill, is an American rapper and songwriter from Newark, New Jersey. He is currently signed to 100%Pure & Warner Music Group [2] and is noted as a pioneer of the hip-hop scene with his fusing of elements of Jersey club and drill. [3]

Career

He began rapping in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. In April 2021, he released his track "Heartbroken" which was selected by Pitchfork as the "must-hear rap song of the day". [4] In November 2021, he released a freestyle titled "Tonight’s Da Night Freestyle". [5] In August 2022, he released his single titled "Real Hips", [6] which is described by Jon Caramanica of The New York Times as "a surprisingly luscious and nimble offering from the Newark rapper Bandmanrill that makes plain the through lines that connect drill music, Jersey club and bass music". [7] In October 2022, he released his debut project Club Godfather., [8] which contains collaborations with NLE Choppa, Lay Bankz, Skaiwater, Sha EK, and DJ Swill B.

Godfather Buried Alive is the second studio album by Belizean-American rapper Shyne. It was released on August 10, 2004 by Def Jam, while Shyne was in the middle of serving a 10-year jail sentence for a 1999 shooting in New York City. The album included 13 tracks, 12 of which were previously recorded vocals, while one was recorded over the phone from jail. It features guest appearances from Kurupt, Nate Dogg, Foxy Brown and Ashanti, and production from Kanye West, Swizz Beatz, Mike Dean and Just Blaze, among others. Drill is a subgenre of hip hop music that originated in Chicago in the early 2010s. It is sonically similar to the trap music subgenre and lyrically similar to the gangsta rap subgenre. Early drill artists are noted for their explicit, confrontational style of lyricism and association with crime in Chicago, especially the Black Disciples and Gangster Disciples. The genre progressed into the American mainstream in 2012 following the success of pioneering rappers like Chief Keef, Lil Reese, Lil Durk, Fredo Santana, G Herbo, Lil Bibby and King Louie, who had many local fans and a significant internet presence alongside producer Young Chop. Other rappers, such as Edai, L'A Capone, RondoNumbaNine, SD, FBG Duck, Lil Jojo and producer Leek-E-Leek also contributed to the early drill scene. As the audience grew, media attention and the signing of drill musicians to major labels followed.

Ackquille Jean Pollard, known professionally as Bobby Shmurda, is an American rapper. Along with Rowdy Rebel, Shmurda is considered a pioneer of Brooklyn drill music. He rose to international fame in 2014 when his song "Hot Nigga" peaked at number six on the Billboard Hot 100. The success of the single led to him signing a deal with Epic Records. His debut EP, Shmurda She Wrote, was released in November 2014.

Katorah Kasanova Marrero, better known by her stage name Young M.A, is an American rapper. Jersey club is a style of electronic club music that originated in Newark, New Jersey in the early 2000s. It was pioneered by DJ Tameil, Mike V, DJ Tim Dolla, and DJ Black Mic of the Brick Bandits crew, who were inspired by Baltimore club's uptempo hybrid of house and hip hop. Other young producers also pushed for the progression of this style of music in the late 2000s.

Brooklyn drill is a regional subgenre of drill music, which is a subgenre of rap music. It centered in Brooklyn, New York, that began as derivative of the drill music scene in Chicago and later became derivative of UK drill with its 808 percussion and sliding notes by producers from the UK drill scene. Brooklyn drill emerged around 2014 with the single "Hot Nigga" from the rapper Bobby Shmurda. Other early contributors were Rowdy Rebel, Bam Bino, Money Millz, Dah Dah and Curly Savv.

Andre Michael Loblack, known professionally as 808Melo or 808MeloBeats, is a British record producer and songwriter from Ilford, East London. 808Melo is credited as a pioneer of UK drill and Brooklyn drill and is known for his bass heavy percussion. In 2019, he produced Pop Smoke's debut mixtape, Meet the Woo. He also produced most of the songs on Pop Smoke's sophomore mixtape, Meet the Woo 2, and he helped produce Pop Smoke's posthumous album Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon, which topped the Billboard Hot 100 artist charts in July 2020. 808Melo has also produced songs for Travis Scott, Fivio Foreign, and Lil Tjay.

Reginald Miot, better known by his stage name Dusty Locane, is an American rapper from Brooklyn, New York. He began gaining recognition in 2020 and 2021 when his singles "Rollin n Controllin Freestyle" and "Rolando " began getting popular on various social media platforms, most notably TikTok. He has been noted by Billboard for his "raspy, drill sound," and by Pitchfork, who called "Rolando " a "must-hear" rap song.

Kevin Perez, known professionally as Kay Flock, is an American rapper. Hailing from the Bronx, he began his career in 2020 and rose to fame through a variety of singles, most notably "Shake It". He released his debut mixtape, The D.O.A. Tape, in 2021.

Eunique Cooper Remble, known professionally as Remble, is an American rapper. Noted for his sharp humor and precise flow, he was described in the Los Angeles Times as "laceratingly funny" with a "distinctive and technically impressive vocal style." His debut mixtape, It's Remble, was released in July 2021.

Brandon Curtis King, known as YNW BSlime is an American rapper and singer. He is the younger brother of American rapper YNW Melly.
