Barguna is a district in the division of Barisal, Bangladesh.
Jhalokathi is a district in southern Bangladesh. It is located in the Barisal Division and covers an area of 758.06 km2 It is bounded by Barisal district to the north and east, Barguna district and the Bishkhali river in the south, Lohagara Upazila and Pirojpur district to the west. Annual average temperatures: maximum 33.3 °C, minimum 12.1 °C; annual rainfall 2506 mm. Main rivers in this district are Bishkhali, Sugandha, Dhanshiri, Gabkhan, Jangalia and Bamanda, Bajitpur River.
East Bengali Refugees are people who left East Bengal following the Partition of Bengal, which was part of the Independence of India and Pakistan in 1947. An overwhelming majority of these refugees and immigrants were Bengali Hindus. They adopted Indian citizenship and contributed to various fields and professions. During the Bangladesh liberation war with West Pakistan, an estimated 10 million people of East Pakistan fled the country and took refuge in India particularly in the Indian states of West Bengal and Indian North East region. Out of 10 million people, a majority of 60% to 80% are Hindus who were the main victims of the West Pakistani army.
The Barisal Division cricket team or Barisal Blazers is a Bangladeshi first-class team representing the Barisal Division, one of the seven administrative regions in Bangladesh. The team competes in the National Cricket League and was formerly a participant in the now-defunct National Cricket League One-Day. In the short-lived National Cricket League Twenty20 competition, played in the 2009–10 season only, Barisal played in their official green and black colours. The equivalent team in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is the Barisal Bulls.

Barisal Zilla School is a boys school located in Barisal, Bangladesh. It is one of the oldest and top ranked high schools in the country and the first high school in Barisal Division. It is a public educational institution located at Sadar Road. The school has a long history. It was founded by an Englishman, N. W. Garret, on 23 December 1829 with only 8 students. Now it has more than two thousand students. The school offers grades from class III to class X. It has two shifts, morning and day. The morning shift starts at 7:00 am and the day shift starts at 12:00 pm.
University of Barisal, is a public university located in Barisal, a city in southern Bangladesh. It is the only general public university in Barisal division and the country's 33rd public university. It was established in 2011 and started educational activities on 24 January 2012. The university offers degrees in undergraduate levels. There are twenty academic departments under six faculties.
Operation Barisal was a code-name of naval operation conducted by Pakistan Navy intended to free the city of Barisal, East Pakistan from Mukti Bahinis and the dissidents of the Pakistan Defence Forces. It was the part of Operation Searchlight.

The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is a professional cricket league consisting seven teams representing the major cities in Bangladesh. The BPL is one of the three major professional cricket leagues in Bangladesh, and among the highest professional level of cricket league in the world. The BPL is generally organized from early December to first week of January, with each team playing 12 games in round-robin format during the regular season. Following the conclusion of the regular season, top four teams advance to the playoffs, a single-elimination game and two qualifier games culminating in the Championship game, between the winner of Qualifier 1 and Qualifier 2.
The 2012 Bangladesh Premier League, also known as Destiny BPL 2012, was the first season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) established by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). The competition featured six franchises and used a tournament format with a double round robin group stage followed by two semi-finals and a final. The season began on 9 February with the final played on 29 February. The competition was won by Dhaka Gladiators.
Duronto Rajshahi was a franchise cricket team that played in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) representing the division of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. The team participated in first two seasons of Bangladesh Premier League. The captain was Steve Smith and his deputy was Tamim Iqbal. The head coach was local boy and also former national team wicketkeeper Khaled Mashud and the batting coach being former national team spinner and commentator Athar Ali Khan. They had an excellent season at the inaugural BPL season. They were the top team in rankings but failed in the semi finals.In 2013 they had an average season even though they had Tamim Iqbal in their side who showed consistent performance in the first season. The 2016 season, the team have been revived to be known as Rajshahi Kings.
The 2015 Bangladesh Premier League, also known as BPL 3 or BRB Cables BPL 2015, was the third season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), a twenty20 cricket league established by the Bangladesh Cricket Board in 2012. The tournament featured six teams during the third season. The season began on Friday, 20 November 2015, with a lavish opening ceremony held at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka, and the annual kickoff game was held between Chittagong Vikings and Rangpur Riders, which resulted with the Rangpur winning by two wickets in last ball finish.
Barisal Bulls, was a franchise cricket team that played in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), representing the country's Barisal Division. Following the 2015 competition, the Bulls were one of the BPL's six existing members and participated in the league's 2016 edition.
Barisal-5 is a constituency represented in the Jatiya Sangsad of Bangladesh since 2019 by Zahid Faruk of the Awami League.
