Maidan is an originally Persian میدان word for a town square or public gathering place, adopted by various other languages: Urdu میدان (maidān); Arabic مَيْدَان (maydān); Turkish meydan; Bangla ময়দান, meaning field, and Crimean Tatar, from which Ukrainian also borrowed maidan. Its ultimate source is Proto-Indo-European *médʰyos - compare Avestan maiδya, Sanskrit मध्य and Latin medius. Various versions include maydan, midan, meydan, majdan, mayadeen and maydān. It also means field (मैदान) in Hindi. It became a loanword in other South Asian languages to give similar means, such as in Tamil in which the word is maidhanam.

Bar Bar is a village in Hakimabad Rural District, in the Central District of Zarandieh County, Markazi Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 523, in 134 families. According to Census 2011 information the location code or village code of Bar Bar village is 104268. Bar Bar village is located in Jhalrapatan Tehsil of Jhalawar district in Rajasthan, India. It is situated 24 km away from sub-district headquarter Jhalrapatan and 32 km away from district headquarter Jhalawar. As per 2009 stats, Barbar is the gram panchayat of Bar Bar village.

Docmo or Damot is a town in Werder Zone of the Somali Region in Ethiopia. The exact district or woreda of Docmo is Bookh also called Boh. The locality is often incorrectly transliterated in various ways, including Damot by Europeans, or as Domo or Domco by the Somalis. Docmo is adjacent to the nearby locality of Las Suban, which is slightly north. It is located a few miles southwest of the border of Dharkeyn Genyo. The first stand-off between the main Darwiish army and the British army occurred in June 1901 in the town of Domco after the Darwiish army retreated from Baran in Sool province, formerly known as Nugaal territory and made Docmo their headquarters with 3,000 men being stationed there.
