Barbara C. Hyland (born October 17,1943 in Orange,New Jersey) is an American politician who represented the 1st Bristol District in the Massachusetts House of Representatives from 1992 to 2001. She was previously a member of the Foxborough,Massachusetts School Committee from 1977 to 1986. [1]

Robert Merton Solow,GCIH was an American economist and Nobel laureate whose work on the theory of economic growth culminated in the exogenous growth model named after him. He was Institute Professor Emeritus of Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology,where he was a professor from 1949 on. He was awarded the John Bates Clark Medal in 1961,the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences in 1987,and the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2014. Four of his PhD students,George Akerlof,Joseph Stiglitz,Peter Diamond,and William Nordhaus,later received Nobel Memorial Prizes in Economic Sciences in their own right.

It was chartered on October 7,1691,by William III and Mary II,the joint monarchs of the kingdoms of England,Scotland,and Ireland,and was based in the merging of several earlier British colonies in New England. The charter took effect on May 14,1692,and included the Massachusetts Bay Colony,the Plymouth Colony,the Province of Maine,Martha's Vineyard,Nantucket,Nova Scotia,and New Brunswick;the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is the direct successor. Maine has been a separate state since 1820,and Nova Scotia and New Brunswick are now Canadian provinces,having been part of the colony only until 1697.
