Barinas Province (1786 - 1864) was a province of the Captaincy General of Venezuela and later of Venezuela.

It was founded on 15 February 1786, with territory formerly part of the Maracaibo Province. In 1823, Apure Province was split from Barinas, with the Uribante River and Apure River marking the border. The following year Gran Colombia was reorganised into four Departments, with the Apure Department consisting of Apure Province and Barinas Province. [1]

It became the state of Barinas with the creation of the States of Venezuela in 2021.

Apure State of Venezuela

Apure State is one of the 23 states (estados) into which Venezuela is divided. Its territory formed part of the provinces of Mérida, Maracaibo, and Barinas, in accordance with successive territorial ordinations pronounced by the colonial authorities. In 1824 the Department of Apure was created, under jurisdiction of Barinas, which laid the foundations for the current entity. In 1856 it separated from Barinas and for the first time Apure appeared as an independent province, which in 1864 acquired the status of state. In 1881, however, a new territorial division combined Apure and Guayana to form a single state named Bolívar. In 1899 it reestablished its autonomy and finally, by means of the Constitution of 1909, gained its current borders.

Televisora Regional del Táchira

The Televisora Regional del Táchira (TRT) is a privately owned Venezuelan regional television network based in the city of San Cristóbal in Táchira. Including Táchira, TRT can be seen in the southern part of the Zulia, northeastern Barinas, and northern Apure in Venezuela. Its signal can also be seen in Colombia in the Norte de Santander Department and northern Arauca Department. It broadcasts on channel six.

Rhinodoras gallagheri is a species of thorny catfish known from Apure River, Capanaparo River, and Arauca River, all left bank tributaries of the middle Orinoco, in the llanos regions of Apure and Barinas States of Venezuela. It is also known from the Aguas de Limon River in the Arauca Department of Colombia. This species grows to a length of 14.95 centimetres (5.89 in) SL.

United States of Venezuela Republic from 1864 to 1953

The United States of Venezuela was the official name of Venezuela, adopted in its 1864 constitution under the Juan Crisóstomo Falcón government. This remained the official name until 1953, when the constitution of that year renamed it the Republic of Venezuela. In 1999 under newly elected president Hugo Chavez and his modification to the Constitution, Venezuela's official name became the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
