Barry Rubin (born June 25, 1957) is the former head strength and conditioning coach of the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL). He is a member of the USA Strength and Conditioning Coaches Hall of Fame.
Rubin was born in Monroe, Louisiana, the son of Sam and Eileen Rubin. [1] [2] He attended Neville High School, lettering three years in football (winning all-district honors as a running back and punter), baseball, and basketball and twice in track. [3] [2]
In 1976, Rubin began playing for the LSU Tigers football team as a running back and punter. [3]
Following the 1977 season, he transferred to Northwestern State University, where he was a punter and a tight end, and received his B.A. in 1981. [4] While there, he played alongside future NFL players Bobby Hebert, Mark Duper, Joe Delaney, and Gary Reasons. [2] In 1979, he set a school record with a 75-yard punt, and was named to the Jewish All-American team. [3]
Rubin began coaching as a graduate assistant at Northeast Louisiana University in 1981. He became assistant strength coach the following year. In 1984, he was promoted to strength coach and remained in that position until 1985. After serving as strength coach at LSU from 1987 to 1990, Rubin returned to Northeast Louisiana University in 1994.
In 1995, Rubin was hired as strength and conditioning assistant with the Green Bay Packers. [3] While serving in that position, he was a member of the Super Bowl XXXI champion Packers, as well as the team that won the NFC Championship the following year. He was promoted to head strength and conditioning coach in 1999. [3] Rubin remained with the Packers until 2005. [3]
In 2010, he was named head strength and conditioning coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. [3] He later assumed the same role for the Kansas City Chiefs, after Andy Reid was hired there as head coach. In 2019, Rubin won Super Bowl LIV when the Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers 31-20. [5] In 2022, Rubin won Super Bowl LVII when the Chiefs defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35.
In 2003, Rubin was inducted into the USA Strength and Conditioning Coaches Hall of Fame. [6] He was inducted into the Northwestern (La.) State Hall of Fame in 2014. [4]
William Ernest Walsh was an American professional and college football coach. He served as head coach of the San Francisco 49ers and the Stanford Cardinal, during which time he popularized the West Coast offense. After retiring from the 49ers, Walsh worked as a sports broadcaster for several years and then returned as head coach at Stanford for three seasons.
Michael George Holmgren is an American former football coach and executive in the National Football League (NFL). He began his NFL career as a quarterbacks' coach and later as an offensive coordinator with the San Francisco 49ers, where they won Super Bowls XXIII and XXIV. He served as the head coach of the Green Bay Packers from 1992 to 1998, where he won Super Bowl XXXI, and of the Seattle Seahawks from 1999 to 2008. His last role in the NFL was as team president of the Cleveland Browns from 2010 to 2012. Prior to his career in the NFL, Holmgren coached football at the high school and collegiate levels.
Todd Pinkston is a former American football wide receiver and current running backs coach for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL). He played five seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles where he caught 184 passes for 2,816 yards and 14 touchdowns. The Eagles went to the playoffs every year that he started, including an appearance in Super Bowl XXXIX. He also is the cousin of former offensive lineman Jason Pinkston. He was inducted to the Southern Miss Sports Hall of Fame in 2011. Todd Pinkston was inducted into the Scott County Sports Hall of Fame in his hometown of Forest, Miss., in 2015.
Andrew Walter Reid is an American football coach who is the head coach for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL). Reid was previously head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles from 1999 to 2012. From 2001 to 2012, he was also the Eagles' executive vice president of football operations. He is the only NFL coach to win 100 games and appear in four consecutive conference championships with two different franchises.
Gregory Alan Lewis Jr. is an American football coach and former player. He is the wide receivers coach for the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League (NFL). He played wide receiver in the NFL for eight seasons. After playing college football for Illinois, he was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent in 2003. He played for the Eagles for six seasons from 2003 to 2008 and the Minnesota Vikings for two seasons from 2009 to 2010. Lewis has served as assistant coach for the University of San Diego, San Jose State, Pittsburgh Panthers, Eagles, and Chiefs.
The 1989 NFL season was the 70th regular season of the National Football League. Before the season, NFL commissioner Pete Rozelle announced his retirement. Paul Tagliabue was eventually chosen to succeed him, taking over on November 5.
Eric Bieniemy Jr. is an American football coach and former running back. He played college football for the Colorado Buffaloes and is their all-time leader in rushing yards (3,940) and touchdowns (42). He was named a unanimous All-American and finished third in Heisman Trophy voting during their national championship season in 1990.
Rodriques "Rod" Wilson is a former American football linebacker and coach who is a defensive assistant for the Kansas City Chiefs. He was selected by the Chicago Bears in the seventh round of the 2005 NFL Draft. He played college football at South Carolina. He also played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and briefly for the Jacksonville Jaguars. He has also coached at Charleston Southern University.
Andrew Robert Heck is an American football coach and former player. He is the offensive line coach for the Kansas City Chiefs. He played tackle in the National Football League (NFL) for twelve seasons. He was drafted in the 1989 NFL Draft with the 15th overall selection in the first round by the Seattle Seahawks He played college football at the University of Notre Dame. He also played for the Chicago Bears and Washington Redskins.
Tom Melvin is an American football coach who is the tight ends coach for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL). His cousin, Bob Melvin, is manager of the San Francisco Giants.
Johnny Ray Holland is an American professional football coach and former player who is the linebackers coach for the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League (NFL). Holland played in the NFL as a linebacker for the Green Bay Packers from 1987 to 1993. He was inducted into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame.

He previously spent 13 years in the Green Bay Packers scouting department ending his tenure as an assistant director of player personnel. He played college football at Temple and signed as an undrafted free agent with the Cincinnati Bengals in 1997. He also played for the Kansas City Chiefs and Seattle Seahawks. Terry also played one year in the Canadian Football League as a member of the 1999 Grey Cup champion Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
David Merritt is an American football coach for the Kansas City Chiefs for the National Football League (NFL) and former linebacker who served as the defensive backs coach for the Arizona Cardinals of the NFL. He was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the seventh round of the 1993 NFL Draft. He played college football at North Carolina State.
