Michael Borgonzi is an American football executive who is the assistant general manager for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL). He previously served in various scouting and executive roles for the Kansas City Chiefs since 2009.
Brown played college football at Brown University as a fullback. He began his career as a tight ends coach at Amherst College in 2002 and has also previously served as an assistant recruiting coordinator at Boston College.[ citation needed ]
A native of Everett, Massachusetts, Borgonzi attended and played college football at Brown University as a fullback, where he was a four-year starter and earned All-Ivy League honors three times. While at Brown University, Borgonzi earned his bachelor's degree.
In 2002, Borgonzi served as the tight ends coach at Amherst College.[ citation needed ]
From 2007 to 2008, Borgonzi served as the assistant recruiting coordinator at Boston College. [ citation needed ]
In 2009, Borgonzi was hired by the Kansas City Chiefs as their administrator of college scouting under general manager Scott Pioli.[ citation needed ] In 2010, Borgonzi was promoted to manager of football operations.[ citation needed ] In 2011, Borgonzi was promoted to pro scout.[ citation needed ] In 2013, Borgonzi was promoted to assistant director of pro scouting under general manager John Dorsey.[ citation needed ] In 2015, Borgonzi was named co-director of player personnel, alongside Brett Veach.[ citation needed ] In 2017, Borgonzi was promoted to director of player personnel under general manager Brett Veach. [1] In 2018, Borgonzi was promoted to director of football operations. [2] In 2019, Borgonzi won his first Super Bowl when the Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers 31-20 in Super Bowl LIV. In 2021, Borgonzi was promoted to assistant general manager. [3] In 2022, Borgonzi won his second Super Bowl when the Chiefs defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 in Super Bowl LVII. In 2023, Borgonzi won his third Super Bowl when the Chiefs defeated the 49ers 25-22 in Super Bowl LVIII. [4]
Borgonzi and his wife, Jill, have a son, Joseph and a daughter, Nina.
Borgonzi's brother, Dave, is currently the linebackers coach for the Chicago Bears.
William Ernest Walsh was an American professional and college football coach. He rejoined Andy Reid in 2019 after being a defensive assistant with him from 1999 to 2006 with the Philadelphia Eagles. He has coached four top-ten defenses as a defensive coordinator in terms of yardage. He has won four Super Bowls as defensive coordinator, one with the New York Giants and three with the Kansas City Chiefs, making him the only coordinator in NFL history to win a Super Bowl with two different franchises. Some historic defenses that Spagnuolo has coached throughout his career include the 2007 New York Giants defense and the 2023 Kansas City Chiefs defense.
