Dave Borgonzi (born November 19, 1982) is an American football coach who is the linebackers coach for the Chicago Bears of the National Football League (NFL). He previously served as an assistant coach for the Indianapolis Colts, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Dallas Cowboys. [1] [2]
Borgonzi played inside linebacker [3] at Amherst College. [4] [5] There he served as a three year starter and was named a team captain during his senior season.
Borgonzi spent two years at Syracuse working as a graduate assistant. While with the Orange he earned his master's degree in education.
While at Harvard, Borgonzi served as a recruiter for the school and as the assistant defensive secondary coach. [6]
Borgonzi worked from 2011 to 2013 as a coaching assistant for the Dallas Cowboys. He worked with the defensive side of the ball for his first two years before moving to offense in 2013.
From 2014 [7] to 2017 Borgonzi worked as an assistant for the Buccaneers.
Dave was hired as the Colts linebackers coach in 2018. [8] He missed week 15 of the 2020 season due to COVID-19. [9]
On February 2, 2022, Borgonzi was hired by the Chicago Bears as their linebackers coach, following new Head Coach Matt Eberflus from the Indianapolis Colts. [10]
Borgonzi's brother, Mike, serves as the director of football operations for the Kansas City Chiefs. [11]

He played professionally as a linebacker for four teams over 16 seasons in the National Football League (NFL) from 1987 to 2002,. He played college football for the California Golden Bears. He was a fifth round draft pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1987 NFL Draft. Nickerson spent the prime of his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The hiring of head coaches Sam Wyche and Tony Dungy allowed Nickerson to play in the middle in a 4–3 defense for both coaches; Nickerson played in a 3–4 defense with the Steelers. While playing in the 4–3, Nickerson went to five Pro Bowls, and was selected for the National Football League 1990s All-Decade Team.

Isaiah "Mike" Caldwell, Jr. is an American football coach who was most recently the defensive coordinator for the Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League (NFL). He previously served as the inside linebackers coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2019 to 2021.
