Gerrit Prince (born August 25, 1997) is an American football tight end who is a free agent. He played college football at UAB.

Early life

Prince was born in Shawnee, Kansas and attended Shawnee Mission Northwest High School. He was an unranked wide receiver recruit and committed to Butler Community College. [1]

College career

At Butler, Prince played in every game for the 2017 season and recorded a total of 566 receiving yards and 11 receiving touchdowns. [2]

In his first season at UAB in 2018, he played in four games and was redshirted. Prince played in all 14 games in the 2019 season and started in one game while accumulating 23 yards and a touchdown. He played in eight games and started in six in the 2020 season while also being an honorable mention on the All-Conference USA Team. In the 2021 season, Prince played in all 13 games and started in 11. By the end of the season he had caught 36 receptions for 699 yards and 10 touchdowns, earning him the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week, the John Mackey Tight End of the Week, and the Second Team All-Conference USA honors. Jacksonville Jaguars

On May 2, 2022, Prince was signed to the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent after going unselected in the 2022 NFL draft. [5] On January 23, 2023, Prince signed a reserve/future contract with the Jaguars. [6]

Prince was released as part of final roster cuts on August 29, 2023. [7] [8]

Kansas City Chiefs

On August 30, 2023, Prince was signed to the practice squad of the Kansas City Chiefs. [9] Prince became a Super Bowl champion when the Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII. [10] He was waived on July 21, 2024.
