Barsha Rani Bishaya is an Indian actress who works in Assamese cinema. She has acted in commercial and critically acclaimed films like Bidhata, Tumi Aahibaane, Ratnakar , etc. Bishaya is also part of mobile theatre groups of Assam. Apart from acting, she is also a Bihu dancer in Assam. She has also acted in many popular VCD films, hosted TV shows and also acted in television series and telefilms. [2]

Career

In 1998, Bishaya made her debut in Ashok Kumar Bishaya's 'Joubone Aamoni Kore'. [3] Along with the films she has also appeared in various mobile theatres of Assam. In 2009, she acted in Hiren Baruah's ' Basundhara' where she had done a very challenging role and won the 57th National Film Awards for Best Feature Film in Assamese. [2] In 2017, She acted in Prerana Barbarooah's 'Tumi Aahibaane' which did well in the box office. In 2019, she acted in Ratnakar which also did well in the box office.

Assamese cinema, is an Indian film industry of Assamese-language. It is based in Assam, India. The industry was born in 1935 when Jyoti Prasad Agarwala released his movie Joymoti. Since then the Assamese cinema has developed a slow-paced, sensitive style. In beginning the industry were called Jollywood, named for Agarwala's Jyoti Chitraban Film Studio.

Bhabendra Nath Saikia was a novelist, short-story writer, editor and film director from Assam, India. Dr. Saikia received his doctorate in physics from the University of London. He began his career as a reader in the Department of Physics, University of Guwahati. He later played an important role in the publication of college level textbooks in the Assamese language during his tenure as the Secretary of the Co-ordination Committee for production of textbooks in regional languages.

Ratnakar: A New Myth of Love is a 2019 Indian Assamese-language action thriller film directed by Jatin Bora and produced by Bora and Navanita Sharma's J.B. Production. The film stars Bora and Barsha Rani Bishaya, with Nishita Goswami, Pabitra Bora, Chetana Das, and Sanjeev Hazarika in supporting roles and features young Ashramika Saikia. It is the adaptation of 2016 Tamil film Theri.

Rajdweep is an Indian screenwriter, playwright, lyricist and journalist hails from Dhing, Nagaon, Assam. He has been awarded by Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan for his script 'Ishqlogy' at Cinestaan India's Storyteller's Script Contest in 2018. He is the first lyricist from Assam who writes Assamese songs in Bollywood film. He wrote the songs 'Jiri Jiri' for the film A Death In The Gunj and the bihu song for the film Jagga Jasoos.
