Barun Burman (born 5 November 1954) is an Indian former first-class cricketer who represented Bengal from 1972 to 1986. He was a right-arm fast-medium bowler,regarded as "probably the fastest bowler Bengal has ever produced". [1] After retirement,he became a coach and then a selector.
Born on 5 November 1954 in Calcutta,Burman made his first-class debut at the age of 17 playing for AN Ghosh XI in the Moin-ud-Dowlah Gold Cup Tournament. He went on to appear in 54 first-class and 11 List A matches,representing Bengal,East Zone,Rest of India and BCCI Board President's XI. He came close to national team selection having been named in the probables list on a few tours,but never made it to the Indian squad. He finished his career with 146 first-class wickets at an average of 29.36. [2]
Burman became a cricket coach after retirement. He started a cricket academy in Kolkata in 2004 called "Barun Burman Cricket Academy" where he organized coaching camps for age-group cricketers. [1] Later the name was changed to "Aditya Barun Burman Academy". He also worked for the Cricket Association of Bengal as a selector on its senior and junior selection committees. He was appointed the chief of junior selection committee in 2008. [3] [4]
Anil Kumble is an Indian former cricket captain,coach and commentator who played Test and One Day International cricket for his national team over an international career of 18 years. Widely regarded as one of the best leg spin bowlers in Test Cricket History,he took 619 wickets in Test cricket and is the fourth highest wicket taker of all time as of 2022. In 1999 while playing against Pakistan,Kumble dismissed all ten batsmen in a Test match innings,joining England's Jim Laker as the second player to achieve the feat. Unlike his contemporaries,Kumble was not a big turner of the ball,but relied primarily on pace,bounce,and accuracy. He was nicknamed "Apple" and "Jumbo". Kumble was selected as the Cricketer of the Year in 1993 Indian Cricket,and one of the Wisden Cricketers of the Year three years later. Kumble was a member of the Indian team that was one of the joint-winners of the 2002 ICC Champions Trophy,which the title was also shared with Sri Lanka.
Ashley Fraser Giles is a former English first-class cricketer,who played 54 Test matches and 62 One Day Internationals for England before being forced to retire due to a recurring hip injury. Giles played the entirety of his 14-year first-class career at Warwickshire County Cricket Club.
Lakshmipathy Balaji is an Indian cricket coach and former cricketer. He is a right arm fast medium bowler. He announced his retirement from first-class and List A cricket in November,2016. He was the bowling coach for Chennai Super Kings,his former side in the Indian Premier League.
Shaun Tait is a former Australian professional cricketer who was appointed as the bowling coach of the Pakistan national cricket team in February 2022. He played as a right arm fast bowler and represented Australia in all three forms of cricket,but had most success in One Day Internationals,in which he was a member of Australia's undefeated team at the 2007 Cricket World Cup,and Twenty20 cricket. Tait won four different awards throughout his career including the Bradman Young Cricketer of the Year in 2004. He is considered one of the fastest bowlers of all time. Tait was a member of the Australian team that won the 2007 Cricket World Cup.
Abey Kuruvilla is an Indian former cricketer and general manager of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). He played as a bowler in mid-1990s for Indian cricket team. He was a selector of BCCI.
Raghvendrarao Vijay Bharadwaj is a former Indian cricketer &cricket coach. He was a right-handed batsman and right-arm offbreak bowler. He won the Man of the Series award on his debut one day international series against South Africa in the LG Cup in Kenya in the 1999–2000 season.
Magina Thilan Thushara Mirando;,or Thilan Thushara,is a former Sri Lankan cricketer,who played all formats of the game. He is a left-handed batsman and a left-arm medium-fast bowler. Salil Ashok Ankola is a former international cricketer who played one Test match and 20 One Day Internationals (ODIs) from 1989 to 1997 for India. A right-arm fast-medium bowler,he played first-class cricket for Mumbai,regularly opening the bowling. Ankola's consistency for Mumbai team earned him a spot for representing India during their tour of Pakistan in 1989–90. After the first Test match at Karachi,he was dropped for the subsequent matches in the series owing to injuries. After a brief phase of playing first-class cricket,Ankola was called for the Indian ODI team during 1993,eventually led to being a part of the 1996 Cricket World Cup. His reputation as a poor fielder,resulted in being dropped from the side after subsequent series. At 28,Ankola retired from international cricket to pursue acting. Since then he went on to appear in a number of Indian soap operas and a few Bollywood movies. In 2020,he was selected as the chief selector of the Mumbai Cricket Association.
Manzoor Elahi is a Pakistani cricket coach and former cricketer. Considered a hard-hitting batsman and a medium-pacer bowler,Elahi appeared in six Test matches and 54 One Day Internationals for Pakistan national cricket team between 1984 and 1995. Former Pakistani captain Imran Khan described him as "perhaps the hardest hitter of the cricket ball in the world".

Their responsibility is to select members of cricket teams to represent India at various levels. The term for selectors was increased from one year to two years in 2006,with a provision for an additional year based on performance. The selectors are appointed by the BCCI's three-member Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC),which currently includes Sulakshana Naik,Ashok Malhotra and Jatin Paranjpe.
Rajinder Singh Hans is a former Indian first-class cricketer and coach. He was a slow left-arm orthodox bowler and played for Uttar Pradesh between 1976–77 and 1986–87,taking 340 first-class wickets.
Shib Sankar Paul is an Indian first-class cricketer. A member of the Bengal cricket team,Paul is a right arm fast bowler of a tall and bulky frame and debuted in the 2000/01 season. A regular in the Indian A side,he was part of India's Test squad for the 4th Test against Australia in 2004/05.Paul was an integral part of the Bengal line up during his long and illustrious career. He was also a regular feature in the India A line up and occasionally in the Board President's XI sides who played against touring overseas teams.
