Bassel El-Gharbawy (born 10 April 1977) is an Egyptian judoka. He competed at three Olympic Games. He is also well known for his judo academy by the name of SUA, achieving 40 medals in their last championship. [1]

The Judo competition at the 1984 Summer Olympics continued the seven weight classes first used at the 1980 Games. With the open division, there were eight competitions. Japan returned to the top of the medal count, after boycotting the Moscow games. Because of the Soviet-led boycott of the Los Angeles games, several traditionally strong judo countries, including Cuba and the Soviet Union, did not participate. The Judo competition was held at California State University, Los Angeles.

Shay-Oren Smadja is an Israeli judo coach and former competitive judoka. Smadja won an Olympic bronze medal in 1992 Summer Olympics, making him the first Israeli male to win an Olympic medal, and the second Israeli overall after Yael Arad who won silver in judo the day before.

Barna Bor is a retired Hungarian judoka. He competed at the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics. At the 2008 Summer Olympics, he lost in the last 32 to Islam El Shehaby. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, he beat Luuk Verbij in the first round, then El Mehdi Malki in the second round, before losing to Andreas Tölzer in the quarterfinal. In the repechage, he lost to Rafael Silva in the first round.

Egypt competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, from 27 July to 12 August 2012, sending one of its largest delegations ever. A total of 110 Egyptian athletes participated in 83 events across 20 sports, with more women taking part than ever before. The nation's flagbearer in the opening ceremonies was Hesham Mesbah, a judoka who was Egypt's only medalist at the 2008 Summer Olympics. Egypt won two medals during the course of the Games: Alaaeldin Abouelkassem earned silver in the men's foil, becoming the first competitor from an African nation to win a fencing medal, while Karam Gaber captured silver in the men's 84 kg Greco-Roman wrestling event. Two Egyptian weightlifters were awarded medals retroactively, after higher-ranked competitors were disqualified for doping: Abeer Abdelrahman took silver in the women's 75 kg event, while Tarek Yehia, received bronze in the men's 85 kg event. Among other achievements, Mostafa Mansour was the nation's first competitor in sprint canoeing while fencer Shaimaa El-Gammal became the first Egyptian female to appear in four editions of the Olympics.

Amin El-Hady is an Egyptian judoka, who played for the half-lightweight category. He is a two-time Olympian and a five-time medalist at the African Judo Championships. He also captured a silver medal for his division at the 2007 All-Africa Games in Algiers, Algeria, losing out to the host nation's Mounir Benamadi.
Mohamed El Assri is a Moroccan judoka, who played for the middleweight category. He won a total of five medals for his division at the African Judo Championships. He also captured a silver medal in the 66 kg class at the 2009 Mediterranean Games in Pescara, Italy, losing out to Greece's Ilias Iliadis.
Andrés Alejandro Loforte is an Argentine judoka, who competed in the men's half-heavyweight category. Aleksandar Kukolj is a Serbian judoka. He won gold medals at the 2016 Abu Dhabi Grand Slam and the 2016 Tokyo Grand Slam. Kukolj started with bronze in the 2016 Havana Grand Prix and silvers at the 2014 Zagreb Grand Prix, 2015 Samsun Grand Prix and 2016 Baku Grand Slam. Kukolj won World Cups in Lisbon in 2012 and won the Panam Open in San Salvador in 2014 and the 2013 Mediterranean Games. He won European medals as Junior and U23. Kukolj competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, in the men's 90 kg.
William Albert Vincent is a New Zealand judoka. He competed at the 1984 Summer Olympics and the 1988 Summer Olympics. In 1986, he won the bronze medal in the 78kg weight category at the judo demonstration sport event as part of the 1986 Commonwealth Games.
