Basu Higher Secondary School is a public school in Bhaktapur, Nepal.

History

The school was established with primary level classes in 2019 BS (1962 CE). The first School Leaving Certificate (SLC) students were six in number, in 2044 BS (1987 CE). In 2063 SLC (2006 CE), a contingent of 244 students took SLC examinations. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]

Curriculum

In the academic year 2061 (2004 CE), the school started 10+2 programs in Science and Management. Humanities were added in 2062 (2005 CE). The school extended its programs to include BBS (Bachelor of Business Studies) in 2066 (2009 AD).

Academic achievement

The school has a passing rate of over 80% in SLC for the last several years.

10+2 refers to the 2 years of schooling which is required post grade 10, adopted by high schools in Nepal. 10+2 is gradually replacing the conventional modes of intermediate education, being the Intermediate of Science, Intermediate of Commerce, Intermediate of Arts/Humanities normally taken by Students after having received their School Leaving Certificate (SLC) provided by Tribhuvan University. Students in Nepal either opt for a 10+2 course in the science, management, and humanities stream under the Higher Secondary Education Board (HSEB), or opt for other options like the British A-Levels curriculum under Cambridge University.

Nar Bahadur Saud is an agriculturist and Madan Puraskar–winning writer. Saud is paralyzed from the waist down because of a road accident. Wheel-chair bound, he worked on a book for ten years. The book was published in 2009 and won the Madan Puraskar for the same year.

Premier Secondary School is a boarding school in Rajbiraj, Nepal. The school was established in 1998. The founder of the school is Rajesh Karna. The school has around 500 students. It is one of the school who produces reasonable percentage of results in School Leaving Certificate exams. Chandra Prakash Baniya is a Nepali writer, columnist, educator and politician. He was elected as a representative from Communist Party of Nepal (Marxist–Leninist) (1978) in 1991 general election for Myagdi. He won the Madan Puraskar for his novel Maharani in 2019.

Sardar Rudra Raj Pande (1901–1987) was a Nepali educator, writer and historian. He served as the Headmaster of Durbar High School from 1925 to 1938, the Headmaster of Tri-Chandra College from 1938 to 1951 and the Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvan University from 1964 to 1969. He wrote multiple novels including Rupamati, which is considered as one of the earliest novels written in Nepali language. He also played an active role in establishing SLC examination board and Department of Archaeology.
