Basundhara Bhusal is a Nepalese movie and theater actor. She was one of the actresses in the first Nepali movie Aama (1964). [1] Since then, she has acted in at least 135 feature films and 60 TV programs. [2] She started her career in theater, acting in plays at the Rastriya Nachghar [3] since the 1960s. [4]

Some of her notable films are Ek Number Ko Pakhe , Truck Driver, Hijo Aaja Bholi (first Nepali film under a private banner and fourth overall), Paral Ko Aago (adapted from eponymous story by Guru Prasad Mainali), Chhakka Panja (second highest grossing Nepali film of all time) and Prasad (2018 film).

Bhusal received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the National Film Awards (Nepal) in 2016. [5]

Bhusal is the co-founder and president of Bhuwan Chaitya Basundhara Foundation. [1] She is known to volunteer for social awareness programs to help educate the public on important issues. [6] She has spoken about gender pay gap in the Nepali movie industry. [2]

Chhakka Panja is a 2016 Nepalese comedy-drama film directed and produced by Deepa Shree Niraula. The film is Niraula's directorial debut and features an ensemble cast of Priyanka Karki, Deepak Raj Giri, Jeetu Nepal, Kedar Ghimire, Buddhi Tamang, Shivahari Poudel, Barsha Raut and Namrata Sapkota. The film is first part of Chakka Panja series and tells the story of Raja ,a rich but illiterate man and his group of friends Ateet(Shivahari Poudel), Saraswati(Jitu Nepal), Magne(Kedar Ghimire) and Buddhi(Buddhi Tamang), Raja who is devoted to the chase gives in to family pressure and gets married but different events unfolds in his and his group of friend's life that gives rise to comedy of errors and situations. The film received highly positive reviews for its screenplay and story, performances, humor and its social setting and message. The film was an " All Time Blockbuster " at the box office breaking several records at the box office was the highest grossing Nepali film of all time until it was overtaken by its 3rd part. However, due to piracy problems, the movie was released on YouTube. Due to the piracy, the international screening of the movie was highly affected. The film had three sequels :- Chhakka Panja 2 Chhakka Panja 3 and Chhakka Panja 4, all of which were commercial blockbusters.Thus, it is the highest grossing Nepali movie franchise.

Yajnaseni (Nepali: ne:याज्ञसेनी; is a play in Nepali by Suman Pokhrel. The play is based on the Sanskrit epic The Mahabharata and Odia novel Yajnaseni by Pratibha Ray. This play has been staged in Nepal, India and United States.

Hijo Aaja Bholi was the fourth Nepali film produced and the first under a private banner. This movie features Shreedhar Khanal, Bhuwan Chand, Mitra Lal, Shanti Maskey and Uttam Nepali in the lead roles. Shreedhar Khanal also wrote the story, screenplay and dialogues. He was also the lyricist and the chief assistant director. When Hira Singh Khatri fell ill while shooting the major portions in the studios of Calcutta, Khanal took the responsibility on his shoulders to see the work was not disturbed.

This movie features Shiv Shrestha, Karishma Manandhar, Shree Krishna Shrestha, Madan Krishna Shrestha and Hari Bansha Acharya in the lead roles. This film became one of the highest-grossing films of all time in Nepal. This movie also features the Maha Jodi who were popular comedians at that time. The songs of this film became popular in Nepal. The film was made on a budget of ₹25 lakh, grossed ₹60 lakh, and made ₹25 lakh profit, one of the highest of its time, making it one of the biggest hits in Nepali cinema history.

Bhuwan Chand is a Nepali actress. She is known for Aama, the first Nepali feature film which was produced in 1964. Her other works include Hijo, Aaja, Bholi (1967), Manko Baandh (1973), Sindoor (1980), Jivan Rekha, Ke ghar ke dera (1987), Pachchis Basanta (1988) and Santideep (1989) among others.

Bulbul is a 2019 Nepalese drama film written and directed Binod Poudel. It stars Swastima Khadka, and Mukun Bhusal in the lead roles. The story line is about a woman who drives tempo for a living in Kathmandu. The film was released on 15 February 2019. It was selected as the Nepalese entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 92nd Academy Awards, but it was not nominated.

She was a singer and a stage actor before she started her film career.

Aama is a 2020 Nepali drama film, directed and written by Dipendra K. Khanal. The film is produced by Sharmila Pandey under the banner of DS Digital. The film stars Mithila Sharma, Surakshya Panta in the lead roles and alongside Sarita Giri, Deshbhakta Khanal, Manish Niraula, Laxmi Bhusal, Tika Pahari, Padam Prasad Poudel, Aashant Sharma, Saroj Aryal.
