Battery was an American electro-industrial trio based in San Francisco. It consisted of vocalist Maria Azevedo and musicians Evan Sornstein and Shawn Brice. They released four albums on COP International between 1993 and 1998 before disbanding.
Battery was formed at Bennington College, Vermont, in 1989 by Shawn Brice, Stuart Scanlon and Evan Sornstein, beginning in an electronic music project for class. In 1991, the trio relocated to San Francisco, where they were adopted by COP Intl. In 1992, Stuart moved back to the East Coast, and Battery recruited vocalist Maria Azevedo who had stood in during a live show. [1] [2]
COP International issued the band's debut album Mutate in 1993. Their second album nv released in 1995. It was followed by Distance a year later, which was a culmination of four months in the studio. [3] Their fourth and final album Aftermath was released in 1998. Amy Hanson of AllMusic described the album as "a highlight" and a "testament to their creative drive." [4] The band dissolved in 2000, with its band members pursuing separate projects.

Snog is a band that was formed by Australian musician Dee Thrussell, along with fellow art school friends Tim McGrath and Julia Bourke in 1989. The band's music is a fusion of many different styles, including industrial, techno, ambient, experimental, funk and country music. The band name is a reference to "kissing and cuddling".
DJ? Acucrack is an electronic music duo based in Chicago, Illinois. DJ? Acucrack was formed by Jason Novak and Jamie Duffy as an Acumen Nation drum n' bass side project. The duo initially created the side project to "kill time" between releases for Acumen Nation, but their releases as Acucrack were so well received that the side project ended up taking precedence. Their first two releases — Nation State and Mutants of Sound — appeared on the CMJ RPM year end charts for 1998.
Negative Format is an EBM/trance band formed by Alex Matheu in 1996. For live performances, the band includes Rashree and Brian Matson.
PlatEAU is an electronic music project featuring cEvin Key and Phil Western. The project resembles a very loose approach to the Download project featuring the same members. The song names and album titles refer to the coffeeshop culture of Amsterdam in The Netherlands implying a "trip" through their musical voyages. The album art also reflects this concept with imagery on their first release on Hypnotic Records in 1997, Music for Grass Bars. This release had a special CD jewel case in order to create a holographic-motion effect with the cover art insert. The genre is most closely related to IDM, experimental, techno and trip hop.
Re-Boot: Live '98 is a live album from Front 242, released in 1998. This album stands in contrast to the band's previous live album Live Code, in that many of its tracks are radical reworkings of the band's earlier songs. Front 242 has identified The Prodigy as an influence on the style of this album. A similar style is also used on the Front 242 live performance DVD, Catch the Men. In the U.S., the album peaked at #71 on the CMJ Radio Top 200 while hitting #1 on the CMJ RPM chart.

Hate Dept. is an American industrial/punk rock band, formed in 1991 by Steven Seibold. Seibold is a multi-instrumentalist who writes, records and releases Hate Dept. albums with minimal outside help. He formed Hate Dept. in 1991 in reaction to fickle 'electro' audiences and antipathy towards live electronic bands, taking his sound in a more punk direction.
