The Battle of Guangzhou was an internal conflict within the National Revolutionary Army in the aftermath of Chiang Kai-shek's successes in the Northern Expedition. It occurred shortly after the Chinese Communist Party-led Guangzhou Uprising, which was crushed by Li Jishen's opponent Zhang Fakui. On December 28, 1927, Li Jishen's forces were able to capture Guangzhou, and Miao Peinan retreated to Huizhou. On December 29, 1927, local leader Li Fulin, an opponent of Li Jishen, was removed from office and replaced with Deng Yanhua.

Guangzhou Zhixin High School (广州市执信中学), located in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou (Canton), was founded in 1921 by Sun Yat-sen in memory of his comrade, the democratic fighter Zhu Zhixin, who was killed in action in a battle at Humen, Dongguan, at the age of 35. In the school campus, a symbolic tomb was built for Zhu. In 1936, the remains of Zhu were relocated to the campus because of a termite problem at the original site. Since its establishment, the school has been one of the most prestigious high schools in the country and had seen the graduation of many outstanding alumni over the years. Many famous visitors have come to campus. In the early twentieth century, Zhixin High School became one of the 37 key high schools in China. In 1994, it was graded as a First Level School of Guangdong Province. It is currently evaluated as a National Level Demonstrative School.

Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall Station is a station on Line 2 of the Guangzhou Metro that started operations on 29 December 2002. It is located under Dongfeng Middle Road (东风中路) and Lianxin Road (连新路) in the Yuexiu District of Guangzhou. The station is named for the Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall, which was established in 1931 in memory of Dr. Sun Yat-Sen, the founder of the Republic of China. The English name of the station is the same as that of Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall Station in Taipei, Taiwan's Metro system.

Zhuhai railway station, also known as Gongbei station (拱北站), is an elevated station of the Guangzhou–Zhuhai intercity railway. It is located in the Gongbei Subdistrict (jiedao) of Xiangzhou in Zhuhai, Guangdong, China, besides the Gongbei Port and parallel to the border between mainland China and Macau. The station is the southern terminus of the Guangzhou–Zhuhai intercity railway and the northern terminus of the Zhuhai–Zhuhai Airport intercity railway.
The Chinese Red Army, formally the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army or just the Red Army, was the military wing of the Chinese Communist Party from 1928 to 1937. It was formed when Communist elements of the National Revolutionary Army splintered and mutinied in the Nanchang Uprising. The Second Battle of Guangzhou was fought between the rival armies of the Liangguang region in Southern China as part of the internal conflicts within the Kuomintang leading up to the Central Plains War. The previous month, the New Guangxi clique had fought the Sichuan clique at the Battle of Yichang in Hubei. The forces of the New Guangxi clique attacked Guangzhou from both their home province of Guangxi as well as Jiangxi. Guangdong forces captured a brigade commander of the New Guangxi clique's army.

It was one of many internal conflicts within the Kuomintang in the aftermath of Chiang Kai-shek's successes in the Northern Expedition.

The Chiang-Gui War was a military conflict between the Nationalist government of Chiang Kai-shek against the warlord army of the New Guangxi clique that lasted from March until June 1929. A later conflict, the 2nd Chiang Gui-War, occurred between the two opposing factions in November and December of the same year.
