Batu Dam (Malay : Empangan Batu) is a dam in Gombak District, Selangor, Malaysia. The dam is a water supply dam. The dam holding capacity is 30,199 ML. The Sungai Batu water treatment plant produces 114 ML per day of treated water. [1] [2]

The Upper Nepean Scheme is a series of dams and weirs in the catchments of the Cataract, Cordeaux, Avon and Nepean rivers of New South Wales, Australia. The scheme includes four dams and two weirs, and a gravity-fed canal system that feeds into a large storage reservoir to provide water to the Macarthur and Illawarra regions, the Wollondilly Shire, and metropolitan Sydney. The four dams and associated infrastructure are individually listed on the New South Wales State Heritage Register.

The 1998 Klang Valley water crisis occurred in Malaysia in February 1998 when the three reservoir dams in Klang Valley, Klang Gates Dam, Batu Dam and Semenyih Dam suffered a substantial drop in water level following the El Niño phenomenon. The subsequent water shortage affected almost all the residents in the Klang Valley causing the government to impose water rationing prior to the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur.

The 1971 Kuala Lumpur floods was a major flash flood disaster in Malaysia that occurred in January 1971. The flooding was the result of heavy monsoon rains, which swelled the Klang, Batu, and Gombak rivers. 32 people were killed and 180,000 people were affected. The Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Abdul Razak declared a state of national disaster in Western Malaysia.

The Selangor water works provides water supply to the state of Selangor as well as the federal territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya in Malaysia. The raw water are sourced mostly from surface water collected by several dams, lakes and rivers, and treated at nearby water treatment plants. The Selangor water works is run by Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd, Selangor State owned company.

Lauriston Reservoir is a reservoir in Victoria, Australia, with a maximum capacity of 19,800 megalitres. The dam that created it, located 9 km west of Kyneton along Lauriston Reservoir Road, was constructed from 1938 to 1941 and has a spillway that measures 77 metres. The site is a popular picnic ground as one can fish there, and barbecue facilities are available. The reservoir is known to contain redfin perch, rainbow and brown trout, roach and cod.

Cressbrook Dam is one of the three water storages used to supply Toowoomba and the surrounding region in Queensland, Australia. The dam is 33 km (21 mi) north-east of Toowoomba in the locality of Biarra in the Somerset Region. It was constructed in 1983 for the former Toowoomba City Council. The other two storages used for Toowoomba are Perseverance Dam and Cooby Dam.

Wuruma Dam was constructed across the Nogo River in the upper Burnett River Catchment 48km north-west of Eidsvold for irrigation & town water supply for Eidsvold, Mundubbera and Gayndah. The dam wall is of mass concrete gravity construction which cost $5.3m to build and was completed in 1968. It has a surface area when full of 1,639 hectares, and a capacity of 165,400 ML. The dam takes its name from a local indigenous word meaning brahminy kite.

Lake Corella is a concrete faced rockfill dam built between 1956 and 1957 on the Corella River to provide town water for the Mary Kathleen Uranium Mine. The dam originally had a gated control structure which was removed in 2004, lowering the spillway and reducing the full supply level. When full it has a surface area of 200 hectares and holds 10,500 ML of water.

Cania Dam is a dam in central Queensland, Australia, 37 kilometres (23 mi) north west of Monto, in the locality of Cania. The dam is situated on Three Moon Creek, a tributary of the Burnett River. The dam wall is an earth and rock-fill embankment type. It has a surface area of 7.6 square kilometres, an average depth of 12 metres (39 ft) and a capacity of 88,580 ML. The dam is named after the abandoned gold mining town of Cania, which was inundated by the lake as it filled.

The Southedge Dam, also known as the Lake Mitchell Dam, is an earth filled embankment dam across the Mitchell River located in Southedge, in Far North Queensland, Australia. Opened in 1987 as an ornamental lake, the impoundment created by the dam is called Lake Mitchell and at full supply level has an active capacity of 129,000 megalitres.

Burton Gorge Dam is located on the Isaac River at AMTD 280.3 km, about 40 km upstream of Moranbah, Queensland, Australia. North Goonyella Coal Properties has a licence to take 1,700 ML/year from the dam. Burton Gorge Dam is owned and operated by RAG Australia Coal subsidiaries.

Teviot Creek Dam is a dam in North Queensland, Australia. It is located on Teviot Creek, a tributary of the Isaac River, upstream of the Burton Gorge Dam. Burton Coal Pty Ltd has a licence to take 1,500 ML/year from the dam. The monthly supply reliability based on a relatively short period of record is thought to be 100%. This does not account for the current critical period and the supply should not necessarily be relied on in future. Teviot Creek Dam is owned and operated by RAG Australia Coal subsidiaries.

The Glenmaggie Dam is a concrete block-foundation gravity dam with 14 radial arm gates across the Macalister River, located near Maffra, Central Gippsland, in the Australian state of Victoria. The dam's purpose includes irrigation, the generation of hydro-electric power, water supply and conservation. The impounded reservoir is called Lake Glenmaggie.
