Bava Chelladurai is an Indian Tamil writer, storyteller, and actor.

Career

Storytelling career

He began reciting books aloud in Tiruvannamalai with 60 people in attendance. The event grew to have 500 people listening to his storytelling. His son, Vamsi, uploaded videos of him telling stories on YouTube and was well received. [1] Chelladurai helped organize an essay contest that took place in Coimbatore and its surrounding districts. [2]

Acting career

He played a comical character in Joker (2016). [3] Chelladurai played supporting roles in Kudimagan (2019) and Psycho (2020) before playing a major role in Walter (2020) as a health minister. [4] [5] [6] [7] He acted as Krishnan in Jai Bhim (2021), an Indian Tamil legal film. [8]

Social activism

He is also an activist and is part of a jury that is against the murders of Dalits. [9] Chelladurai also spoke up against the construction of a drainage pipe in Sonagiri Forest in Tiruvannamalai. [10]

Jai Bhim Comrade is a 2011 Indian documentary film directed by Anand Patwardhan. The film begins with a description of police violence in the 1997 Ramabai killings. The film took 14 years to produce, and was released in 2011 after the conclusion of the court trials that followed the Ramabai incident. <i>Jai Bhim</i> (film) 2021 film by T. J. Gnanavel

Jai Bhim is a 2021 Indian Tamil-language legal drama film directed by T. J. Gnanavel and produced by Jyothika and Suriya under 2D Entertainment. The film stars Suriya, Lijomol Jose and Manikandan with Rajisha Vijayan, Prakash Raj, Guru Somasundaram and Rao Ramesh others in supporting roles. The film deals with the subject of police bias and state violence against a marginalised community. Based on a true incident in 1993, which involves a case fought by Justice K. Chandru, it revolves around the lives of Sengeni and Rajakannu, a couple from the Irular tribe. Rajakannu was arrested by the police, and was later missing from the police station. Sengeni seeks the help of an advocate Chandru to seek justice for her husband.

Justice K. Chandru, is an Indian advocate and former judge of Madras High Court. Chandru has disposed of 96,000 cases during his tenure as a Judge. Chandru is known for a case which took place in 1993 when he was practising as a lawyer, to which the film Jai Bhim (2021) is dedicated.

<i>Jai Bhim</i> (soundtrack) 2021 soundtrack album by Sean Roldan

Jai Bhim is the soundtrack to the 2021 Tamil-language legal drama film of the same name directed by T. J. Gnanavel and starred Suriya whose production company 2D Entertainment also produced the film. The film features musical score composed by Sean Roldan, with lyrics written by Yugabharathi, Raju Murugan and Arivu. Preceded by three singles—"Power", "Thala Kodhum" and "Sendumalli"—the soundtrack was released by Sony Music on 1 November 2021, with a bonus song "Manniley Eeramundu" unveiled after the film's release. The music received positive response from critics.
