Be Wiser Insurance is an insurance broker, founded in 2007. The company is Financial Conduct Authority approved and a member of the British Insurance Brokers Association (BIBA). [1] They offer a range of insurance products from a panel of UK insurers covering car, bike, van, domestic, business and commercial insurance.

Staff, Training and Development

Be Wiser Insurance is based in Andover. [2] [3] Their headquarters were officially opened by Sir George Young, 6th Baronet. [4] The current number of employees totals over 600 staff in six offices across Andover, Hampshire. [5]

The company opened a new office in Swindon in June, 2016, promising 350 new jobs for the area. [6]

Be Wiser has 280 Apprentices and is one of the UK's Top 100 Apprenticeship Providers. [7] [8] In 2014 Be Wiser was rewarded nationally for their apprenticeship programmes; HeadStart, FreshStart, SureStart and KickStart. [9] [10] As well as providing professional training and development for its employees Be Wiser also trains and develops external candidates from across the Insurance sector through its Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) training centre. [11]

Be Wiser are the first insurance broker to have developed a BA (Hons) Insurance Degree Programme, [12] thanks to the introduction of The Be Wiser Uni for Insurance (BUFI) [13] whose degree programme is accredited by The University of Chichester. BUFI also incorporates Level 2 & 3 Apprenticeships.

Be Wiser Ducati (2016 - 2019)

Be Wiser Insurance sponsored a British Superbike Racing Team Be Wiser Ducati [26] - owned by Paul Bird Motorsport.

The 2016, 2017, and 2018 seasons featured Shane "Shakey" Byrne and Glenn Irwin riding a Ducati Panigale R [27] for the team, with Glenn's younger brother Andrew Irwin joining the team as a replacement rider for the injured Shakey in the 2018 season.

The 2019 season saw a completely new line up for the team, [28] with 2015 BSB winner [29] Josh Brooks and MotoGP rider Scott Redding joining the PBM Be Wiser Ducati Race Team. The 2019 season saw not only new riders for the team, but a new bike, with both riders climbing aboard the Ducati Panigale V4 R. [30]

Be Wiser concluded its partnership with the PBM Ducati Racing Team in 2019, with their final season as sponsor seeing Scott Redding win the BSB Championship. [31]

Be Wiser Kawasaki (2012 - 2015)

Previously, the company sponsored a Superstock (2013–14) and later, a British Superbike Racing (2015) Team - Be Wiser Kawasaki. The team was managed by previous British Superbike Champion 2011, Tommy Hill, with riders [32] consisting of Chris Walker (motorcycle racer) and Danny Buchan. [33] The team rode a Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R - notable for its unusual yellow and black livery. [34] Be Wiser Kawasaki withdrew from the 2015 BSB season due to lack of financial backing. [35]

Be Wiser Owl

Be Wiser's Owl is a recognised face across the country. As part of their 10th anniversary, the Be Wiser Owl could also be seen on Europe’s largest freestanding LED advertising boards. [51]

During 2017 Be Wiser donated small torches and reflective stickers featuring its distinctive owl logo to local schools. [52]

During 2017 he raced in the British Superbike Championship aboard a Ducati 1199 Panigale for Moto Rapido Racing, but suffered injuries from a crash at the season-finale race meeting in October, meaning he could not participate during 2018. He has not made a full recovery, which has so far precluded hopes of a comeback, but he has become involved in rider coaching.

Chris Walker is a British motorcycle road racer and former scrambler with the nickname The Stalker. He is a four-time runner-up in the British Superbike Championship, and a former race winner in the Superbike World Championship. For the 2015 season Walker signed for Tommy Hill's Be Wiser Kawasaki Team aboard a Kawasaki ZX-10R in the British Superbike Championship, following his 2014 season with Lloyds British GBmoto squad. Team manager Hill left in August, 2015, and the team folded in September, leaving Walker without a ride for the final two race meetings of the season.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Michael Rutter (motorcyclist)</span> British motorcycle racer

Michael Karl Rutter nicknamed "The Blade", is a British motorcycle racer. He currently races in the National Superstock 1000 Championship aboard a BMW S1000RR. He has a reputation for being at his best in wet conditions and his favourite circuit is Oulton Park. He won 29 British Superbike Championship races with the most recent being at Silverstone in 2010, and finished as series runner-up twice. He has also contested MotoGP and World Superbike Championship events.

The British Superbike Championship (BSB), known for sponsorship reasons as the Bennetts British Superbike Championship, is a road racing championship for superbike class machines in the United Kingdom, and is acknowledged to be the premier domestic superbike racing series in the world.

Bennetts is a specialist insurance broker for motorcycles headquartered in Peterborough, with a contact centre in Coventry, owned by Lucida Group since May 2021.

British Supersport Championship is a support series to the British Superbike Championship (BSB) for engine capacities smaller than Superbike. British Supersport runs one or two rounds per weekend at each BSB event. The BSS championship is seen as a stepping stone for the younger talent to progress to the British Superbike Championship or to World level classes. Riders such as: Tom Sykes, Cal Crutchlow, Sam Lowes, Alex Lowes, Jonathan Rea and Leon Camier all raced in this championship during their early careers.

The 2012 British Superbike season was the 25th British Superbike Championship season. For the 2012 season, MSVR announced a number of changes to the technical regulations of the spectacle of them British Superbike Championship. The championship will be limited to 32 entries, with 16 teams each entering two bikes. This was designed to be a way of rewarding teams that have had a history of competing in the BSB regularly. Teams who had competed in the 2011 season were given automatic entries, whilst teams who wish to graduate to the BSB class had to buy an entry.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Ducati 1199</span> Italian motorcycle

The Ducati 1199 Panigale was a 1,198 cc (73.1 cu in) Ducati sport bike introduced at the 2011 Milan Motorcycle Show. The motorcycle is named after the small manufacturing town of Borgo Panigale. Ducati had announced a larger displacement 1,285 cc (78.4 cu in) 1299 Panigale for the 2015 model year.

Paul Bird Motorsport are a British motorcycle road racing, car racing and rallying organisation. The owner, Paul Bird, died in 2023 and had competed as a rally driver and a solo-rider in motocross. His son Frank is a car racer.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Taylor Mackenzie</span> British motorcycle racer

Taylor Mackenzie is a former Grand Prix motorcycle racer based in Leicestershire, England. In late 2021, Mackenzie announced his intended retirement from racing at the end of the season. Shortly afterwards, it was announced that from the 2022 season, Mackenzie would be team manager for VisionTrack Honda Moto3, a new team in Moto3 headed by ex-racer Michael Laverty.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Moto Rapido Racing</span>

Moto Rapido Racing is a motorbike racing team, currently competing in the British Superbike Championship. For the first half of the 2018 season, the superbike rider was Taylor Mackenzie, who replaced injured American John Hopkins. For the second half of the 2018 season Tommy Bridewell succeeded Mackenzie as sole BSB rider. He was retained for 2019 finishing in third place with 636 points, and is contracted again for 2020.

The 2022 British Superbike Championship season was the 35th British Superbike Championship season. The title was won by Bradley Ray. The season was marred by the death of Chrissy Rouse a few days after an incident during the final race at Donington Park.

The 2023 British Superbike Championship season is the 36th season of the motorcycle championship. Bradley Ray was the reigning champion, but chose to compete in the 2023 Superbike World Championship. The championship was won by Tommy Bridewell, winning the closest-ever BSB season, defeating teammate Glenn Irwin by just half a point.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Glenn Irwin</span> Northern Irish motorcycle road racer born 1990

Glenn Irwin is a professional road racer of motorcycles, and the brother of racer Andrew Irwin. For 2023, he raced for the Paul Bird Motorsport Ducati team in the British Superbike Championship, losing the championship by half-a-point, and in road racing events such as the North West 200 aboard a Ducati Panigale V4 R.
