The Wombats are an English indie rock band formed in Liverpool in 2003. Since its inception, the band's line-up has consisted of Matthew Murphy, Tord Øverland Knudsen, and Dan Haggis. The band is signed to 14th Floor Records and Bright Antenna. They have sold over 1 million albums worldwide.
Girls, Boys and Marsupials is the first album by The Wombats, released in 2006 in Japan only. Many of these songs appear on their debut album A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation, released the following year. The tracks that did not feature on this album featured as B-sides on single releases of "Kill the Director", "Let's Dance to Joy Division" and "Backfire at the Disco". "Derail & Crash" and "Metro Song" also featured on the iTunes bonus version of A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation.
Matthew Edward Murphy is an English singer, songwriter, and musician. He is best known as the lead vocalist, guitarist, and primary songwriter of The Wombats, which he co-founded in 2003. He began a solo career under the name Love Fame Tragedy in 2018.
