The Beata Pawlak Memorial Award (Polish: Nagroda im. Beaty Pawlak) is an annual Polish literary prize founded in 2003 and awarded to authors publishing their works in the Polish language whose subject-matter concerns the themes of religion, culture and civilisation. The award was created to honour the last wish of a Polish award-winning writer and journalist Beata Pawlak who died in the 2002 Bali bombings in Indonesia. [1] [2]

The winner of the award is selected by a jury which has included such members as Adam Szostkiewicz, Wojciech Tochman, Olga Stanisławska, and Wojciech Jagielski.

Ryszard Kapuściński Polish journalist, photographer, poet and author

Ryszard Kapuściński was a Polish journalist, photographer, poet and author. He received many awards and was considered a candidate for the Nobel Prize for Literature. Kapuściński's personal journals in book form attracted both controversy and admiration for blurring the conventions of reportage with the allegory and magical realism of literature. He was the Communist-era Polish Press Agency's only correspondent in Africa during decolonization, and also worked in South America and Asia. Milionerzy (Millionaires) is a Polish game show based on the original British format of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? The show is hosted by Hubert Urbański. The main goal of the game is to win 1 million Polish zloty (€240,000) by answering twelve multiple-choice questions correctly. In previous editions, there were three or four lifelines - fifty fifty, ask the audience and ask the expert, the experts were: Bartosz Węglarczyk, Michał Ogórek, Szymon Hołownia, Dorota Wellman and Jan Wróbel; in the previous season - Andrzej Fabianowski, Piotr Gąsowski and Kazimiera Szczuka. Earlier there was phone a friend [telefon do przyjaciela] instead of ask the expert [pytanie do eksperta]. In March 2010 contestant could choose risk game. If the contestant wanted risk game, a new lifeline called switch the question was added - if the contestant chose to play the version with this lifeline, the second guaranteed sum was not guaranteed. The first series of Milionerzy was broadcast from 3 September 1999 to 26 January 2003, and the second version has been broadcast since 19 January 2008. It was shown every Sunday at 6 p.m on the Polish commercial television station TVN. Now, it is shown on 8:55 p.m from Monday to Thursday Executive producer of first series was Endemol. Now, the executive producer of programme is Intergalactic. Since 2008, when a contestant gets the second question correct, they will leave with 1,000 zł. When a contestant gets the seventh question correct, they will leave with 40,000 zł.

<i>Kaczyzm</i>

Kaczyzm is a Polish neologism and an ideological concept pejoratively or satirically describing the rule of the Law and Justice party (PiS), derived from the names of Polish politicians, brothers Jarosław and Lech Kaczyński. As an ironic or propaganda term, it is used by opponents of the political groups of the Kaczyński brothers, while considered inaccurate and offensive by PiS supporters. Although in recent years the phrase has been reappropriated by supporters of Law and Justice and is sometimes compared to Trumpism in the United States.
