Behlen Observatory is a research facility and astronomical observatory owned and operated by the astronomy department of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. It is located in Mead, Nebraska (United States) about 38 miles northeast of Lincoln, Nebraska and was founded in 1972.
Lincoln is the capital of the U.S. state of Nebraska and the county seat of Lancaster County. The city covers 96.194 square miles (249.141 km2) with a population of 287,401 in 2018. It is the second-most populous city in Nebraska and the 70th-largest in the United States. The city is the economic and cultural anchor of a substantially-larger metropolitan area in the southeastern part of the state called the Lincoln Metropolitan and Lincoln-Beatrice Combined Statistical Areas. The statistical area is home to 356,083 people, making it the 105th-largest combined statistical area in the United States.

Its news operations are primarily based at a studio located north of Hastings on US 281 that housed the area's former NBC affiliate, KHAS-TV ; with a secondary news bureau and sales office on West State Street in Grand Island. Master control and some internal operations are based at KOLN's facilities on North 40th Street in Lincoln. Since KSNB's signal is spotty in Lincoln proper, it is simulcast in high definition on the second digital subchannel of KOLN/KGIN.

Hyde Memorial Observatory is a community astronomical observatory located in Lincoln, Nebraska (USA) surrounded Holmes lake. It is run totally by volunteers, furnished through public donations, and devoted purely to public viewing. It is named after a donation given by Leicester Hyde in honor of her late husband and opened in 1977.
Lucile Miller Observatory is an astronomical observatory owned by Catawba County Schools and operated by the Catawba Valley Astronomy Club. It is located on the campus of Maiden Middle School in Maiden, North Carolina (USA), which is the former location of Maiden High School.
Lincoln Northeast High School is a public high school in Lincoln, Nebraska, United States. It is part of the Lincoln Public Schools district and was established in 1941 when three rival schools were combined into one. The school is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and has been rated "AA" by the Nebraska Department of Education since 1943.
Berlin Guy "Champ" Chamberlin, sometimes misspelled Guy Chamberlain, was an American football player and coach. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1962 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1965. He was also named in 1969 to the NFL 1920s All-Decade Team.

As KHAS-TV, it formerly served as the NBC affiliate for the western side of the Lincoln–Hastings–Kearney market. Owned by Gray Television, KNHL is a sister station to Superior-licensed NBC affiliate KSNB-TV ; Lincoln-licensed CBS affiliate KOLN and its satellite KGIN in Grand Island; and Lincoln-licensed CW+ affiliate KCWH-LD. KNHL's transmitter is located on US 281 north of Hastings.
Walter Dietrich Behlen was born on a small farm near Columbus, Nebraska. He was the second of nine children born to Fred and Ella Behlen. His high school education was interrupted by illness, but he returned to school at age 20, and received his diploma at age 23. He married Ruby Cumming in 1940; the couple had two children.
The Nebraska women's volleyball team was founded in 1975 and is one of the most decorated teams in all of women's volleyball, with more wins than any other program and five NCAA national championships, one of only three programs not on the west coast to have won a title. Since the induction of the CBS College Sports/AVCA National Poll in 1982, the Cornhuskers are one of only two programs in the country to be ranked in every poll and have produced 73 All-Americans. The Cornhuskers volleyball program is one of the most popular spectator attractions in Nebraska, as four of the largest crowds to ever watch a volleyball match were in the state.
"Dear Old Nebraska U" is a fight song of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln often played at football games by the University of Nebraska Cornhusker Marching Band. There are three other fight songs, "Hail Varsity," "March of the Cornhuskers," and "The Cornhusker ".
The 2014 Nebraska Cornhuskers football team represented the University of Nebraska in the 2014 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The team was coached by Bo Pelini and played their home games at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska. They were members of the West Division of the Big Ten Conference. They finished the season 9–4, 5–3 in Big Ten play to finish in a tie for second place in the West Division. Following losses to both Wisconsin and Minnesota and a come from behind win in overtime at Iowa, Pelini was relieved of his coaching duties following the conclusion of the regular season on November 30, 2014. On December 4, 2014, Mike Riley was announced as the next head coach of the Nebraska football team, and would begin his duties immediately. However, he would not coach the Huskers in the Holiday Bowl, with that job instead handled by Barney Cotton. The Cornhuskers lost the Holiday Bowl to USC.
The 2014 Nebraska gubernatorial election took place on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 to elect the 40th Governor of Nebraska. Republican Candidate and former COO of TD Ameritrade Pete Ricketts defeated Democratic candidate and former Regent of the University of Nebraska Chuck Hassebrook, receiving 57.6% of the vote to Hassebrook's 38.9%. This is the 1st open seat election since 1998.

The Walter and Ruby Behlen House is a historic one-story house in Columbus, Nebraska. It was built in 1958 for Walter Behlen, a co-founder of the Behlen Manufacturing Company. It was designed in the Moderne style by architect Jack Savage of the Leo Daly architectural firm, and meant to be a "showcase for the potential uses of industrial materials for domestic purposes." It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since March 11, 2003.
