The Belfast Sabres (Officially the Belfast Down East Auto Parts Sabres) were a Canadian Junior C ice hockey team located in Belfast, Prince Edward Island. They played out of the Belfast Recreation Centre, and are coached by Devan Gunn. They were members of the Prince Edward Island Junior C Hockey League.
Unlike the average expansion franchise, the Sabres became a force in the PEIJCHL after only a few years in the league. They finished second in the league in both their second and third seasons, behind only South Side.
By their third season the Sabres had advanced to their first league playoff finals only to lose to the South Side.

The Belfast Giants are a professional ice hockey team based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. They compete in the UK's Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) and are the current champions for the 7th time in their history. They play their home games at the SSE Arena. Since their inception in 2000, the Giants have won fourteen major honours, including seven British league championships, three British championships by winning the play-offs, and five Challenge Cups.

Gilbert Perreault is a Canadian former professional ice hockey centre who played for 17 seasons with the National Hockey League's Buffalo Sabres. He was the first draft pick of the Sabres in their inaugural season in the NHL. He is well known as the centre man for the prolific trio of Sabres forwards known as The French Connection. The trio helped the Sabres reach the 1975 Stanley Cup Finals.
The 1976–77 NHL season was the 60th season of the National Hockey League. The Kansas City Scouts moved to Denver, Colorado, and became the Colorado Rockies and the California Golden Seals moved to Cleveland, Ohio, and became the Cleveland Barons. The Montreal Canadiens once again dominated the playoffs as, for the second straight year, they swept their opponent four games to none in the final series for the Stanley Cup.
Steven Bradley Ott is a Canadian former professional ice hockey centre and current assistant coach of the St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected in the first round, 25th overall, by the Dallas Stars in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. Ott also previously played for the Buffalo Sabres, St. Louis Blues, Detroit Red Wings and Montreal Canadiens.
