Isabella Rose James (born 27 January 1999) is a New Zealand cricketer who currently plays for New Zealand women's cricket team and Otago in domestic cricket. She plays as a right-handed batter and wicket-keeper. [1] [2]
She was completed her schooling at Arrowtown Primary School in Arrowtown,New Zealand. She started her career in the Secondary Schools Girls Finals. [3] In the second year she was joined Otago Sparks at top level cricket and was guided by Suzie Bates and Katey Martin. [3] She was the top scorer of the Secondary Girls Finals,with 191 runs and received Secondary Schools Girls’Young Cricketer of the Year award. She became the first female to receive the Otago Cricket Scholarship. [3] She developed her cricketing ability at St Hilda’s Collegiate under Neil Rosenberg,former coach at the school. [3]
James played for Otago in Hallyburton Johnstone Shield and Super Smash. She made her List A debut against Canterbury in the 2014–15 New Zealand Women's One-Day Competition on 13 December 2014. [4] She made her T20 debut against Canterbury in the 2014–15 New Zealand Women's Twenty20 Competition on 12 December 2014. [5]
She scored her first List A century (101) in 2022–23 Hallyburton Johnstone Shield against Central Hinds on 22 January 2023. [6] She scored unbeaten 101 runs against Wellington Blaze on 30 November 2024 in the 2024–25 Hallyburton Johnstone Shield. [7]
In August 2024,she was awarded domestic contract for Otago by New Zealand Cricket for 2024–25 season. [8] [9] In December 2024,she earned maiden call-up for national team for the ODI series against Australia. [10] [11] [12] [13] She made her One Day International debut against Australia on 21 December 2024. [14]

Bates again won ICC Women's ODI and T20I Cricketer of the Year 2016.
The Hallyburton Johnstone Shield is the premier domestic women's one-day cricket competition in New Zealand. The tournament began in 1935–36,as a first-class competition,but is now played as a 50-over competition,with six provincial teams taking part:Auckland,Canterbury,Central Districts,Northern Districts,Otago and Wellington. The tournament now runs alongside the Twenty20 Women's Super Smash.
The Otago Sparks is the women's cricket representative team for the New Zealand region of Otago and the surrounding area. They play their home games at University Oval,Dunedin. They compete in the Hallyburton Johnstone Shield one-day competition and the Women's Super Smash Twenty20 competition.

Wellington Blaze topped the group to qualify for the final,with Otago Sparks qualifying in second. Otago went on to win the competition,beating Wellington by 138 runs in the final. Otago's Kate Ebrahim was the leading run-scorer while Northern Districts' Nensi Patel took the most wickets in the tournament.
