Belmont began competing in intercollegiate basketball in 1952 as a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), and did not join the NCAA until the 1996–97 season. [1] While the NCAA did not officially record assists as a stat until the 1983–84 season, and blocks and steals until the 1985–86 season, the NAIA has recorded these statistics over a noticeably longer time frame. [a] Belmont's record books includes players in these stats before these seasons. [3] These lists are updated through the end of the 2020–21 season.
