Early life

Baur attended West Albany High School in Albany, Oregon, graduating in 2004. Baur graduated from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. [1] [2]

Career

Baur had guest roles on the television series Nip/Tuck and Happily Divorced before starring as Alex in the LGBT-themed web series Hunting Season. [3] [4] [5] [6] After appearing in the series The Following and Difficult People , [2] [7] [8] he played Kip Stark in several episodes of the web series These People from 2015 to 2016. [9] [10] [11] Baur and longtime friend Thandi Tolmay co-created, co-produced, and co-starred in the web series #Adulting in 2016. [1] [10] [12] He has also written episodes of These People and #Adulting. [11] In January 2017, Baur posted on Instagram that he had worked on the ABC soap opera General Hospital in an undisclosed role. [13] He played mail clerk Noah on the show on February 27, 2017. [14] [15] Baur also wrote and starred in the short film Something New, which premiered at Outfest Los Angeles in 2017. [16]

Reception

In 2015, Out named Baur to its Out100 list, [7] after previously placing him on the magazine's "Most Eligible Bachelors" list two years in a row. [8]

Awards and nominations

Baur was nominated for an Indie Series Award for Best Actor (Comedy) in 2012 and 2016 for his work in Hunting Season, [21] [22] and in 2017 for #Adulting. [23] The entire Hunting Season cast won the Indie for Best Ensemble (Comedy) in 2016. [24]

Personal life

Baur is gay. In 2012, he wrote a column for The Huffington Post about his experiences coming out and being an "out gay actor". [25] He and his partner Craig Gates were engaged in May 2018. [26]

Van Hansis American actor (born 1981)

Van Hansis is an American actor. Hansis portrayed the rich Luke Snyder on the CBS soap opera As the World Turns from December 14, 2005 until the show's final episode September 17, 2010. The son of long running characters on the series, Luke is known for a gay romantic storyline cited as one of the first in American daytime television.

Kit Williamson is an American actor and filmmaker. He is known for creating, writing, directing, and starring in the dark comedy web series EastSiders. For his work on the series, he has been nominated for several Indie Series Awards and Daytime Emmy Awards.

Will Horton

Will Horton is a fictional character from the American daytime TV soap opera Days of Our Lives, known for a highly praised coming out story, award-winning performances by actor Chandler Massey, and as one half of US daytime drama's first male gay wedding and marriage. The character first appears on November 16, 1995, when his mom Sami Brady gives birth to him. Initially portrayed by a series of child actors, the character grew up in real-time as the show aired, eventually to be played by adult actors Chandler Massey, and Guy Wilson (2014–2015).

Hunting Season is an American LGBT-themed comedy-drama web series created by Jon Marcus. Following the romantic and sexual exploits of Alex and his small group of friends in New York City, the story was inspired by and largely based on the 2005–08 blog The Great Cock Hunt and the 2008 novel of the same name published by Kensington Books.

<i>The Outs</i>

The Outs is a web series which premiered on Vimeo in 2012. Filmed and set in Brooklyn, New York, the show tells the story of Mitchell, his best friend Oona, and his ex-boyfriend Jack. It debuted in March 2012 with a run of six episodes, with a "Chanukah Special" in April 2013. A second season of six episodes began in March 2016, followed by a special December 2016 episode.

EastSiders is an American dark comedy web series created by Kit Williamson. It premiered on YouTube on December 14, 2012, and began streaming through Logo TV's website on April 23, 2013. Set in Silver Lake, Los Angeles, the series follows couple Thom and Cal (Williamson) as they struggle with infidelity and substance abuse. It also explores the relationship between Kathy, Cal's best friend, and her boyfriend Ian as they reach their six-month anniversary, making it Kathy's longest relationship.

<i>DeVanity</i>

DeVanity is a soap opera web series which ran from April 28, 2011 to March 20, 2014. Created, written and executive produced by Michael Caruso, the series is available for streaming at www.DeVanity.com.

<i>Winterthorne</i>

Winterthorne is a soap opera web series that premiered on August 27, 2015 at Winterthorne.com. Starring Martha Madison as Miranda Winterthorne, the ruthless matriarch of a candy dynasty, the series was created, written and executive produced by Michael Caruso. <i>Anacostia</i> (web series)

Anacostia is a soap opera web series that premiered on October 15, 2009 on YouTube. It was created by Anthony Anderson, who also stars in, writes, produces, and directs the series. Anacostia chronicles the drama among residents of the titular community in Washington, D. C. Guest star Martha Byrne later became an executive producer on the series.

<i>The Bay</i> (web series) Digital drama series

The Bay is a digital drama series that premiered on September 15, 2010, at Blip.tv and later moved to Amazon Prime. For its sixth season, the series ran on Popstar! TV. Starring Mary Beth Evans as wealthy socialite Sara Garrett and Kristos Andrews as her youngest "golden boy" son Pete Garrett, the series was created by Gregori J. Martin. It is set in the posh seaside town of Bay City, where the privileged residents are entangled in one scandal, betrayal or love affair after the other.

Kristos Andrews is a British-American actor, producer, and skateboarder, known for his work on the digital drama series The Bay. He is an X Games Champion and two-time Guinness World Records record holder for skateboarding. Andrews received Daytime Emmy Awards in 2016, 2017, and 2018 for his role as Pete Garrett on The Bay, and has won four Daytime Emmys as an executive producer of the series in 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018. Since 2016 he has starred as Tyler in the teen sitcom This Just In, for which he was also nominated for a 2017 Daytime Emmy as a producer.

<i>Adulting</i> (web series) American comedy-drama web series

#Adulting is an American comedy-drama web series created by and starring Ben Baur and Thandi Tolmay. It follows two friends, Max and Faye, who are nearing 30 and have yet to put their lives in order.

The Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Digital Daytime Drama Series is an award presented by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) and Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (ATAS).
