Ben Eckermann (born 12 March 1987) is an Australian rules football midfielder who played for Port Adelaide in the Australian Football League (AFL) and Sturt in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL).

Eckermann was selected with the 51st pick in the 2004 AFL Draft and made his AFL debut in Round Seven of the 2005 AFL season. In his fourth game Eckermann was concussed when he was bumped front-on by West Coast Eagles player Tyson Stenglein. [1] The incident was seen as a precursor to stronger penalties for front-on contact to the head. [2] The game would be his last AFL match, when he was delisted at the end of the 2006 season. [3]

He went on to attend Worawa Aboriginal College in Healesville, which had been established by his mother's family. He began his football career with Healesville under 9's, and subsequently progressed to the Eastern Ranges team in the under-18 TAC Cup. Selected by West Coast during the 1995 draft period, Wirrpanda made his debut for the club during the following season. Having played his first game for West Coast at the age of 16 years and 268 days, he remains the youngest player to have played a senior game for the club.

Michael Strickland Gardiner is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the West Coast Eagles and the St Kilda Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Originally from Albany, Western Australia, Gardiner played for the Claremont Football Club in the West Australian Football League (WAFL) before being drafted by West Coast with the number-one pick in the 1996 National Draft. He made his debut for the club in 1997, and over the next seasons replaced Ryan Turnbull as the club's first-choice ruckman. After being named in the All-Australian team in 2003, Gardiner missed most of the 2004 season due to injury. Loss of form and a series of off-field controversies led to him being traded to St Kilda at the end of the 2006 season, having played total of 129 games for West Coast. During his time at St Kilda, Gardiner added another 52 games, including St Kilda's 2009 and 2010 losing grand final teams, before retiring at the end of the 2011 season.
