Clube Desportivo Benfica da Brava is a football club in Cape Verde that plays in the Brava Island Division in Cape Verde. It is based in Cidade Nova Sintra the island of Brava. The club is affiliate to the Portuguese club S.L. Benfica.

Cape Verde or Cabo Verde, officially the Republic of Cabo Verde, is an island country spanning an archipelago of 10 volcanic islands in the central Atlantic Ocean. It forms part of the Macaronesia ecoregion, along with the Azores, Canary Islands, Madeira, and the Savage Isles. In ancient times these islands were referred to as "the Islands of the Blessed" or the "Fortunate Isles". Located 570 kilometres (350 mi) west of the Cape Verde Peninsula off the coast of Northwest Africa, the islands cover a combined area of slightly over 4,000 square kilometres (1,500 sq mi).

Nova Sintra is a city in the central part of the island of Brava in southwestern Cape Verde. It serves as the seat of the Brava Municipality. The settlement is named after Sintra, the summer residence of the Portuguese kings. Its population is about 1,500. Its elevation is around 500 meters. Since 2010, Nova Sintra has been a city. Agriculture is the predominant source of income on Brava. Tourism is less developed, but there are a few small hotels and guest houses. The "aluguer" buses to the other villages start from Praça Eugénio Tavares.

Brava is an island in Cape Verde, in the Sotavento group. At 62.5 km2 (24.1 sq mi), it is the smallest inhabited island of the Cape Verde archipelago, but at the same time the greenest. First settled in the early 16th century, its population grew after Mount Fogo on neighbouring Fogo erupted in 1680. For more than a century, its main industry was whaling, but the island economy is now primarily agricultural.

History

Benfica Brava was founded on January 1, 1996. Around the start of the new century, it became a registered club of Brava. Benfica Brava won their only opening tournament title in 2003 and became the fhird club to receive a regional honour. Since 2014, the club is the only from the island participate only at the regional championships.

In 2006, Benfica Brava celebrated its 10th anniversary of the club's foundation.

In recent years the club finished in the low positions. In 2014, the club finished last place with 4 points. In that season, Benfica conceded 52 goals, the most were conceded to Nô Pintcha which were 19, where Benfica lost 0-6 (6th round) and later 13-2 (13th round) to Nô Pintcha, the latter was the region's worst match. In 2015, there was a tiny success as they finished 6th with 4 points, it was a little worse as Benfica lost 8-0 to Sporting which was the club's worst match and conceded 38 goals. Benfica finished last for the next two seasons, also they scored only nine goals each.

The 2016 one was sufferable in goal concessions with 69, the most in Brava. On January 17, the club lost to Sporting 8-0, another 8-0 loss was made, this one to Juventude da Furna. Benfica's 0-3 win over Morabeza at the 8th round is the club's last win to date. On March 6, the worst came as they loast 0-11 to Sporting, on March 27, the club lost to Juventude 0-16 and made it the region's worst match, at the 13th round, the club lost 1-9 to Académica Brava. Benfica's five worst matches made up much of the goals they conceded totalling 53. Benfica suffered worst in 2017 as they only had two draws but conceded fewer with 53. The first two matches they lost were not worst up to February 12 where they lost 5-0 to Sporting and was the region's worst match, it became their loss to Académica 6-0 on February 26. Benfica had two matches ended in a goal draw, first with Juventude, then in two matches with Morabeza. The club suffered as the region's worst became their 0-14 loss to Sporting, not as worst as the previous season, it was held until April 30 and it became second behind Corôa's loss also to Sporting on April 30. The last three matches ended in losses, they were moderate.

Sporting Clube da Brava is a football club that had played in the Premier division and plays in the Brava Island Division in Cape Verde. It is based in Nova Sintra the island of Brava with its offices located in nearby Lem. Its current coach is Ney Loko. Its nickname is Leões equalling the nickname to Sporting Lisbon and many other Sporting clubs. Its current president is Francisco Oliveira and its coach is Ney Loko.

Benfica planned for a better season for 2017-18, it partly came true with a 3-5 victory over Académica in their first regional season match on Christmas Eve, December 24. The match held it as the region's highest for the season for just a week before Morabeza took it. Benfica started first place as of the first round, their next good start in some seasons, their points was shared with Sporting Brava. They lost the position to Morabeza a week after when Académica made their highest scoring match in Brava up to January 28, though Benfica d Corôa on defeated December 31, two losses were followed, they had a bye week in the middle of that before their recent win was made over Juventude on January 28., Benfica's position slipped down to fourth, nonetheless they were third in goal scoring, 13 were scored. At the 6th round, they were better in a few seasons and had 9 points - three of the five matches were won. Benfica has a moderately good season as the club remains fourth, their last win was on February 11 where they defeated last placed Académica 5-2, their next meeting was a loss to Morabeza. Benfica did not play at the 11th round, after, they defeated Nô Pintcha on March 11 and had 16 points. Later the club met with Juventude and no goals were scored and ended in a draw, with 17 points, five less than Juventude and six more than Nô Pintcha, Benfica later finish fourth in Brava. On March 25, their last match of the season was a 7-0 loss to Sporting. Benfica finished with 17 points and scored 24 goals, third in Brava.

ts logo is with a white crest (not fully circular) with a golden bird above, a green-red ribbon reading the Latin name "E pluribus unum", a red and white shield with a ball and a blue ribbon with the club name acronym (CDB) in the middle. Its logo is nearly the same as Benfica's but some differences. Other logos are the same in the nation (with some similarity) are Paulense, Sport Sal Rei Club, Praia's CD Travadores Benfica da Praia (Benfiquinha) and Benfica de Santa Cruz. Benfica Brava's parent club is Benfica Praia which is another club who uses the same logo to Benfica's but slightly different.
