The 2014–15 Brava Island League season was the competition of the second and third tier football in the island of Brava, Cape Verde. Its started on 24 January and finished on 26 April 2015, over a month after the last season. The tournament was organized by the Brava Regional Football Association (Associação Regional de Futebol da Brava, ARFB). [1] All matches were played at Estádio Aquiles de Oliveira in Nova Sintra. Sporting Brava won their second consecutive title. [2]

Association football team field sport

Association football, more commonly known as football or soccer, is a team sport played with a spherical ball between two teams of eleven players. It is played by 250 million players in over 200 countries and dependencies, making it the world's most popular sport. The game is played on a rectangular field called a pitch with a goal at each end. The object of the game is to score by moving the ball beyond the goal line into the opposing goal.

Brava, Cape Verde island of the Cape Verde archipelago

Brava is an island in Cape Verde, in the Sotavento group. At 62.5 km2 (24.1 sq mi), it is the smallest inhabited island of the Cape Verde archipelago, but at the same time the greenest. First settled in the early 16th century, its population grew after Mount Fogo on neighbouring Fogo erupted in 1680. For more than a century, its main industry was whaling, but the island economy is now primarily agricultural.

Cape Verde or Cabo Verde, officially the Republic of Cabo Verde, is an island country spanning an archipelago of 10 volcanic islands in the central Atlantic Ocean. It forms part of the Macaronesia ecoregion, along with the Azores, Canary Islands, Madeira, and the Savage Isles. In ancient times these islands were referred to as "the Islands of the Blessed" or the "Fortunate Isles". Located 570 kilometres (350 mi) west of the Cape Verde Peninsula off the coast of Northwest Africa, the islands cover a combined area of slightly over 4,000 square kilometres (1,500 sq mi).

Sporting Brava was the defending team of the title. A total of 7 clubs participated in the competition. 156 goals were scored, slightly lower than last season. All matches were played at Estadio de Aquiles de Oliveira in Nova Sintra.

Overview

As Fogo saw a couple of record breaking matches during the season, Brava was nearly the same and saw another high scoring matches, the highest scoring match was the Juventude-Corôa match in which Juventude scored 12-1 tying Fogo's highest scoring match which was done by Spartak d'Aguadinha, the second were two matches that finished with 8 goals. The Juventude match (along with the Spartak match of the Fogo Island League) was the highest scoring goal of any island league in the country. Unlike last season, the records were not successful, it was one goal less than last season's highest scoring match and there were four high scoring matches of which one was a moderate one with 6 goals scored by Morabeza on February 7, the following season would be more successful than the last two. Also Sporting Brava had the 25th unbeaten match at the end of the season which became a club record. Sporting also finished with 28 points and ranked behind Académica's 29 points made in 2012, this ranking is now 8th in 2018.

Associação Spartak D'Aguadinha is a sports club whose football team had played in the Premier division and plays in the Fogo Island League in Cape Verde. It is based in São Filipe's subdivision of Aguadinha located next to Bila Baxo in the island of Fogo and plays at Estádio 5 de Julho. Spartak d'Aguadinha also has a basketball, volleyball and now a futsal department.

The first two weeks Benfica Brava took the lead, then Juventude of the Port of Furna took it for three weeks, Sporting took it at round 6 for three weeks, Académica took it for a week due to Sporting's bye round, then Sporting took it again for a week, Juventude retook it for three weeks, after Juventude played their last match of the season and took a bye round, Sporting took the number one spot where they finished.

Juventude Furna scored the most number of goals numbering 39, Sporting was second with 34, the last two were Corôa with 13 and Benfica with 12. Sporting conceded only four goals in the season, Corôa conceded the most and numbered 46.

Académico do Aeroporto

Académico do Aeroporto is a football club that had played in the Premier division and plays in the Sal Island League in Cape Verde. It is based in the city of Espargos in the island of Sal. The team was is named after its nearby airport. Estádio Aquiles de Oliveira

Estádio Aquiles de Olveira, also as Aquilo de Oliveira is a multi-use stadium in Nova Sintra on the island of Brava, Cape Verde, as the island size is small, it is the only sports venue on the island. It is used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of Académica, Benfica and Sporting, clubs based from other parts of the municipality outside Nova Sintra plays at the stadium including SC Juventude da Furna and SC Morabeza. The stadium holds 1,000 people and its ground is artificial grass. The stadium is operated by the Brava Regional Football Association (ARFB).

The 2016–17 Brava Island League season was the competition of the second and third tier football in the island of Brava, Cape Verde Its started on 21 January and finished on 30 April 2017, later than last season. The championship was governed by the Brava Regional Football Association. Sporting Brava won their fourth and recent title.

Its started on December 23,, 2017 and finished March 25, 2018, earlier than last season. The championship was governed by the Brava Regional Football Association. SC Morabeza won their 10th and recent title, also it was their next in eight years, Morabeza will play in Group C.
