Bergenfest (initiated in 1993 under the name OleBlues) is an annual music festival held in the month of June, in Bergen, Norway, at the Bergenhus Fortress.
It started out as an intimate blues and Americana festival, situated at various venues in the city center of Bergen. [1]
Bergenfest has since then grown into what is now one of the leading music events in Norway, with a much more diverse music profile and a significantly bigger audience. In 2012, the festival changed to an outdoor event, and are now situated in the historically and aesthetically stimulating surroundings at Bergenhus Fortress. [2]
Bergen, historically Bjørgvin, is a city and municipality in Vestland county on the west coast of Norway. As of 2022, its population was roughly 289,330. Bergen is the second-largest city in Norway after the national capital Oslo. The municipality covers 465 square kilometres (180 sq mi) and is on the peninsula of Bergenshalvøyen. The city centre and northern neighbourhoods are on Byfjorden, 'the city fjord'. The city is surrounded by mountains, causing Bergen to be called the "city of seven mountains". Many of the extra-municipal suburbs are on islands. Bergen is the administrative centre of Vestland county. The city consists of eight boroughs: Arna, Bergenhus, Fana, Fyllingsdalen, Laksevåg, Ytrebygda, Årstad, and Åsane.

The Nobel Peace Prize Concert has been held annually since 1994 on 11 December to honour the Nobel Peace Prize laureate. The award ceremony on 10 December takes place in Oslo City Hall, while the concert has been held at Oslo Spektrum, with the attendance of the laureate and other prominent guests. The Concert is broadcast to a global audience and reaches up to 350 million households in 100 countries.
The Hove Festival was a music festival held on the island Tromøya outside of Arendal in southern Norway. It was held for the first time from 26 to 30 June 2007. Running for eight years and at one time the largest music festival in Norway, Hove Festival was discontinued after its 2014 show due to negative profits. Hove Festival was acquired by Festival Republic in 2008 after going bankrupt. As with other Festival Republic events, there were no age restrictions, and children under the age of 12 were admitted free of charge.
Way Out West is a three-day music festival held in Gothenburg, Sweden, during August that plays host to a variety of popular music artists mainly from the rock, electronic and hip-hop genres. The main festival is complemented with the club concept Stay Out West which features after-hours gigs at various venues around the city.
Spellemannprisen is a Norwegian music award presented to Norwegian musicians. The award was established by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), an organization that represents the interests of the recording industry worldwide. First awarded in 1973, the prize honours musicians from the previous year; it is still awarded annually, usually in January or February. The Spellemann committee, composed of members of IFPI Norway and FONO, manages the award and acts as the judge. 21 categories are currently awarded, in addition to other honorary and industry awards the committee may give. In 2020 and 2021, the award show was held digitally due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Nordic popular music, also referred to as Scandinavian popular music, includes pop and rock music of the Nordic countries. Skavlan was a Norwegian-Swedish television talk show hosted by Norwegian journalist Fredrik Skavlan. It premiered in Sweden on Sveriges Television (SVT) in January 2009, and the first guests to appear on the show were former Prime Minister of Sweden Göran Persson and his wife Anitra Steen. On 8 May 2009, it was announced that Skavlan had been renewed for a second season. It was also announced that the show would no longer only be produced by SVT in Sweden; Skavlan would now be partly produced in Norway by the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK). The first twelve episodes of Skavlan's second season were produced by SVT in Sweden, and the remaining twelve by NRK in Norway. It was then produced by Monkberry, who took over production duties from the 4th season, run by presenter Fredrik Skavlan and producer Marianne Torp-Kierulf.
Propeller Recordings is a Norwegian independent record label, launched in 2003 in Oslo. It has grown into an influential label both in its home city as well as worldwide, and has now expanded to include a UK office based in London.
Jørgen Træen also known by his stage name Sir Duperman is a Norwegian record producer, musician and electronica artist from Bergen. He is best known for his work as a music producer and for the studio Duper Studio, which he runs together with Yngve Sætre.

The Bendiksen Award, or Bendiksenprisen in Norwegian, is a music award granted by the Norwegian Ministry of Culture and awarded by the Norwegian Artists' Association, GramArt. The award was established in 2009. The Award is meant to contribute to the development of talent in Norwegian pop music industry, and "be a contribution to an artist that already has established a career, that either has one commercial release or conduct concert performances of a certain scale". The winner receives 100,000 Norwegian kroner.
P3 Gull, is a music show and an award ceremony organized by the Norwegian radio station NRK P3. P3 Gold was first held on 29 November 2013 at Sentrum Scene in Oslo. It dealt Awards in four categories: "Newcomer of the Year", "Live Artist of the Year", "Song of the Year" and "P3-Prize" (P3-prisen). The live shows will primarily be a meeting between the audience and the music being played on P3.
