Sondre Justad (born 15 October 1990) [1] is a Norwegian musician and songwriter.

Early life

Justad grew up in Henningsvær in Lofoten, Northern Norway and went to upper secondary school in Bodø, Northern Norway. [1] He began publishing his own music at the age of 16. [1]

Career

Justad released his first single, "Nu har du mæ", in 2014 on Petroleum Records which was a radio hit. [1] In February and July 2015 he followed up with the singles "Det e over" and "Tilbake". [2]

In October 2015, he released the debut album Riv i hjertet. The album entered the Norwegian chart VG-lista Topp 20. [3] He has also been doing TV appearances on TV2 Senkveld and P3 Gull. [4]

Ingenting i paradis received positive reviews in Norway [5] with Dagbladet giving it 4/5 stars. [6]

In 2019 he was nominated to four categories of the Spellemannprisen music awards. [7] [8]

Artistry

He sings in the Northern Norwegian dialect. [1] His lyrics are described as being open and honest [9] and are often about love and heartbreak. [9]

VG-lista is a Norwegian record chart. It is presented weekly in the newspaper VG. It is considered the primary Norwegian record chart, charting albums and singles from countries and continents around the world. The data are collected by Nielsen Soundscan International and are based on the sales in approximately 100 shops in Norway. The singles chart started as a top 10 chart in week 42 of 1958 and was expanded to a top 20 chart in week 5 of 1995, the same time the albums chart, which started as a top 20 chart in week 1 of 1967 was expanded to a top 40 chart.

Spellemannprisen, often referred to as the Norwegian Grammy Awards in English, is a Norwegian music award presented to Norwegian musicians. P3 Gull, is a music show and an award ceremony organized by the Norwegian radio station NRK P3. P3 Gold was first held on 29 November 2013 at Sentrum Scene in Oslo. It dealt Awards in four categories: "Newcomer of the Year", "Live Artist of the Year", "Song of the Year" and "P3-Prize" (P3-prisen). The live shows will primarily be a meeting between the audience and the music being played on P3.
