BestBus (formerly DC2NY) is a company that operates low-cost intercity bus service in the Mid-Atlantic states of the United States. The primary service operated by BestBus runs from various stops in the Washington, D.C., area to New York City. BestBus also operates service on summer weekends from Washington, D.C., and New York City to the Delaware Beaches. BestBus formerly was branding only and service was provided by contractors. BestBus was acquired by charter company DC Trails in 2018 and assumed operations. [1]
BestBus operates low-cost intercity bus service between various locations in the Mid-Atlantic states. There is daily service connecting Washington, D.C., to New York City. Daily service also operates from Manassas, Vienna, and Springfield in Virginia to New York City. On summer weekends, BestBus operates service from Washington, D.C., and New York City to the Delaware Beaches towns of Rehoboth Beach and Dewey Beach. [2]
BestBus offers free Wi-Fi, electric plugs at every seat, free bottled water, and on-board restrooms. All bus riders are guaranteed a seat when boarding. [3]

DC2NY was founded by Asi Ohana and Richard Green in 2007 to offer low-cost intercity bus service between Washington, D.C., and New York City. [8] In 2010, DC2NY began summer weekend service from Washington, D.C., to the Delaware Beaches. [9] DC2NY started summer weekend service between New York City and the Delaware Beaches in 2013. [10] In May 2014, the company was renamed to BestBus and added seven new stops. [8] In July 2014, BestBus began service from Manassas, Vienna, and Springfield in Virginia to New York City. [11]

It is part of the rapidly growing Cape Region and lies within the Salisbury, Maryland-Delaware Metropolitan Statistical Area. In 2011, the NRDC awarded Dewey Beach with a 5-Star rating in water quality. This award was given only to 12 other locations, one being neighboring Rehoboth Beach. Out of the 30 states with coastline, the Delaware Beaches ranked number 1 in water quality in 2011.

The Maryland Area Rail Commuter (MARC) is a commuter rail system in the Washington–Baltimore area. MARC is administered by the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) and operated under contract by Alstom and Amtrak on track owned by CSX Transportation (CSXT) and Amtrak. Delaware Route 1 (DE 1) is the longest numbered state highway in the U.S. state of Delaware. The route runs 102.63 mi (165.17 km) from the Maryland state line in Fenwick Island, Sussex County, where the road continues south into that state as Maryland Route 528 (MD 528), north to an interchange with Interstate 95 (I-95) in Christiana, New Castle County, where the roadway continues north as part of DE 7. Between Fenwick Island and Dover Air Force Base in Dover, Kent County, DE 1 is a multilane divided highway with at-grade intersections and occasional interchanges. The route heads north through the Delaware Beaches resort area along the Atlantic Ocean before it runs northwest through rural areas, turning north at Milford to continue to Dover. Upon reaching Dover, DE 1 becomes the Korean War Veterans Memorial Highway, a freeway that is partially tolled. Between Dover and Tybouts Corner, DE 1 parallels U.S. Route 13 (US 13), crossing over and featuring interchanges with it multiple times. Past Tybouts Corner, the freeway heads north parallel to DE 7 to the northern terminus of DE 1 in Christiana. DE 1 serves as the main north-south state highway in Delaware, connecting the Delaware Beaches with the Dover and Wilmington areas.

The Lewes Transit Center is a park and ride lot and bus terminal owned by the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) that is located near the Five Points intersection southwest of the city of Lewes in Sussex County, Delaware. The transit center serves DART First State buses, with service provided by four local bus routes, three of which operate year-round, with expanded service during the summer months, and one of which operates seasonally during the summer months, serving Sussex County and the Delaware Beaches. The bus terminal also serves two inter-county bus routes that provide year-round service to Dover and summer weekend and holiday service from Wilmington. The Lewes Transit Center opened in 2017.
The Virginia Breeze is an intercity bus service operated by Megabus and was introduced by the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation. The system operates four bus routes from Washington D.C. to many different parts of Virginia.
