The Bestival 2007 was the fourth installment of the Bestival a boutique music festival at Robin Hill on the Isle of Wight. It was held between 7 and 9 September. [1] Tickets went on general sale on Friday 2 March, around 20,000 have been admitted for general release. Tickets were officially announced as sold out on 12 May.

The Bestival 2007 won the Best Medium Sized Festival award, at the UK Festival Awards. This was the third consecutive award for the Bestival, a feat achieved by no other festival in the awards history to date.

Many of the established features were retained including the Bollywood Bar, Hidden Disco, The Farmers Market, Come Dancing Tent, Bestival 87.7FM, Solar Powered Cinema, The Inflatable Church and the Fancy dress parade. The new features for the 2007 Bestival include:

BBC Radio 1 broadcast live from the Bestival, they also had a stage present at the Bestival showcasing many talented artists.

2007 marked the launch of Bestival Radio. The station broadcast on-site over the frequency 87.7FM and kept listeners camping at the festival up-to-date on news and events over the weekend. Bestival FM was sponsored by Jokers' Masquerade [4]

There were 14 different musical venues at the Bestival 2007, these are – Main Stage, The Big Top, The Bollywood Bar, House of Bamboo, BBC Introducing..., Hidden Disco, Club Dada, Jestival, Bandstand, Restival, Come Dancing, The Rizla Arena, Time For Tease and Loose Tea Party.

Bestival Spring Launch Parties

These were a new concept for 2007, allowing people to experience the atmosphere of the Bestival around the country in small gigs. Details of the events are listed below -

Fatboy Slim British DJ, musician, and record producer

Norman Quentin Cook, also known by his stage name Fatboy Slim, is an English musician, DJ, and record producer who helped to popularise the big beat genre in the 1990s. In the 1980s, Cook was the bassist for the Hull-based indie rock band the Housemartins, who achieved a UK number-one single with their a cappella cover of "Caravan of Love". Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain English musical ensemble exclusively featuring musicians with a range of ukuleles

The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain (UOGB) is an English musical ensemble founded in 1985 just for fun by George Hinchliffe and Kitty Lux. The orchestra consists entirely of ukuleles of various sizes and registers from soprano to bass. The UOGB is best known for performing covers from an eclectic and diverse range of musical genres, from classical to punk, via pop, rock, rhythm and blues, film and television sound tracks, plus a wide variety of other popular music styles. The songs are often performed with a reinterpretation, sometimes with a complete genre twist or are seamlessly woven together with several other well known songs from multiple genres. Musical comedy, juxtaposition and general humour long being a feature of the orchestra's act.

The Nextmen are a UK production/songwriting/DJ duo consisting of Dom Search and Brad Baloo. Often incorporating hip hop, drum&bass, dub, pop, soul and various other eclectic electronic and indie genres into their sound, they have worked with many artists from the UK, US, Australia, Jamaica and New Zealand. They are currently running their own label Play Nice Recordings in the UK, and working on their various studio projects including their sixth artist album.

Bestival was a four-day music festival held in the south of England. It had been held annually in the late summer since 2004 at Robin Hill on the Isle of Wight. In 2017 the festival relocated to the Lulworth Estate in Dorset. The event was organised by DJ and record producer Rob da Bank along with his wife Josie and was an offshoot of his Sunday Best record label and club nights. The initial Bestival attracted 10,000 people, growing to 50,000 in its final year, 2018. Bestival won 'Best Major Festival' at the 2015 UK Festival Awards, having won 'Best Medium-Sized Festival' in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2009, 'Best Major Festival' in 2010, 2012 and in 2015, 'Fan's Favourite' in 2011 and 'Best Innovation' in 2005.

Rob da Bank Musical artist

Robert John Gorham, known by the pseudonym Rob da Bank, is an English DJ and co-founder of music festivals Bestival, originally on the Isle of Wight and now moved to Lulworth, Dorset and Camp Bestival, also in Lulworth. He presented a show on BBC Radio 1 which focused on promoting new left field music. Examples of artists featured on his show include Tipper, Moloko and a host of unsigned acts.

Bestival 2006

Bestival 2006 was the third annual Bestival organised by the Rob da Bank's Sunday Best label. It was held at Robin Hill Country Park on the Isle of Wight from 8 to 10 September. Around 17,000 people attended the three-day event. The Bestival is often referred to as a "mini-Glastonbury" with regards to the excellent atmosphere the festival generates.

Sunday Best Recordings is a British music label, founded by BBC Radio 6 DJ Rob da Bank.

Dan le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip Band

dan le sac Vs Scroobius Pip were a hip-hop duo, combining electronic beats with sung, spoken, and rapped lyrics. The pair are Daniel Stephens, and David Peter Meads (b.1981). The name "Scroobius Pip" is an intentional misspelling of the Edward Lear poem, The Scroobious Pip.

Kitty, Daisy & Lewis Musical artist

Kitty, Daisy & Lewis are a British five-piece band fronted by the siblings of the Durham family. Their music is influenced heavily by R&B, blues, soul, punk, rock and roll, and West Indian music. They are all multi-instrumentalists playing guitar, piano, bass, drums, harmonica, banjo, lapsteel guitar, ukulele, xylophone, accordion, and more between them. Kitty, Daisy & Lewis have sold over a quarter of a million records worldwide.

Scroobius Pip English actor, rapper and spoken word poet (born 1981)

David Peter Meads, known professionally as Scroobius Pip, is an English actor and podcaster as well as a former spoken word poet, Brett Goldstein collaborator and hip hop recording artist from Stanford-le-Hope, Essex. He first gained prominence as one half of hip hop duo Dan le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip sparked by their debut single "Thou Shalt Always Kill".

Blissfields

Blissfields is an annual music festival in Hampshire, England founded by Paul and Mel Bliss in 2001 at Bradley Farm, Bradley, near Alresford. In 2011 the festival moved to a new site in Vicarage Farm, Woodmancott near Winchester. The festival is currently 2,500 ticket capacity and has previously seen appearances from Mumford and Sons, Bastille, Laura Marling, Super Furry Animals, Tricky, Dizzee Rascal, Years & Years, and Wolf Alice.

Bestival 2008

The Bestival 2008 was the fifth instalment of the Bestival a boutique music festival at Robin Hill on the Isle of Wight. The festival was held between 5–7 September 2008 and over 30,000 people attended.

Lounge On The Farm

Lounge On The Farm was a music festival held annually at Merton Farm, Canterbury, Kent, which attracted thousands of visitors each year. Although there was a vast increase in the capacity of the event, as well as the amount and quality of the performing acts, organizers insisted that they kept the festival ‘non-conformist’, promoting bands and produce from Kent. The festival was held for 9 consecutive years between 2006-2015, before the festival was ‘shelved’ due to the site it had been held at, Merton Farm, no longer being viable, and has yet to make a return.

Bestival 2009

The Bestival 2009 was the sixth installment of the Bestival, a boutique music festival held at Robin Hill on the Isle of Wight. The festival was held over the weekend between 11 September and 13 September 2009. Each year a fancy dress theme is announced, this year's being outer space with the title 'A Space Oddity'. The festival boasts its own radio station called Bestival Radio. The station is broadcast on-site, plays music and keeps listeners camping at the festival up-to-date on news and events over the weekend. Headline acts were announced as Massive Attack, Kraftwerk and Elbow.

Camp Bestival

Camp Bestival is a British music festival, the "little sister" of Bestival, both organised by BBC Radio 1 DJ Rob Da Bank. It is held annually, in July, at Lulworth Castle in Dorset and is targeted at families with small children. In 2019 it had a capacity of 10,000. It won the Best New Festival award from the UK Festival Awards in 2008 and Best Family Festival in 2009, 2010, 2013 and 2014.

Bestival 2010

Bestival 2010 was the seventh installment of the Bestival, a boutique music festival held at Robin Hill Country Park on the Isle of Wight. The festival, organized by Rob and Josie Da Bank and their crew, was held over the weekend between 9 September and 12 September 2010. It was voted the best major UK festival in the UK festival awards. This is the first time it has won the major festival award, rather than the medium-sized festival award. Each year a fancy dress theme is announced; 2010 was the year of the fantastic and so festival goers dressed in fantasy outfits. The festival boasts its own radio station called Bestival Radio. The station was broadcast on-site, played music and kept listeners camping at the festival up-to-date on news and events over the weekend. The first acts were announced on 4 February.

Boardmasters Festival Annual event held in Cornwall, United Kingdom

Boardmasters Festival is an annual event held in Cornwall, United Kingdom, usually held over five days on the second weekend of August. The event is a combination of live music and surfing/skateboarding competitions in and around the town of Newquay. The festival was founded in 1981 through the surfing competition,. In 2005 the festival was expanded to include music acts, taking place at Watergate Bay. The current capacity is 53,000.

Mike Jackson OAM is an Australian children's entertainer, recording artist, songwriter, radio show host, and author. He is perhaps best known for his version of Bananas in Pyjamas and appearances on ABC Television.
