The Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) is a caucus made up of most African-American members of the United States Congress. Representative Karen Bass from California chaired the caucus from 2019 to 2021;she was succeeded by Representative Joyce Beatty from Ohio as chair. Senators are divided into three groups,each group having a two-year term at a different part of the decade between censuses,with the rest of the decade being taken up by two four-year terms. This ensures that the Senate reflects changes made when the General Assembly redistricts itself after each census.
Michael Joseph Madigan is an American politician who is the former speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives. He was the longest-serving leader of any state or federal legislative body in the history of the United States,having held the position for all but two years from 1983 to 2021. He served in the Illinois House from 1971 to 2021. He represented the 27th District from 1971 to 1983,the 30th district from 1983 to 1993,and the 22nd district from 1993 to 2021. This made him the body's longest-serving member and the only remaining legislator to have been elected before the Cutback Amendment.

Christine Goodwin is an American businesswoman and politician serving as a member of the Oregon House of Representatives from the 2nd district. Goodwin was appointed to the House in August 2021,succeeding Gary Leif.
