Bettina Bucher (born 29 November 1980) is a Swiss sports shooter who specialises in the 300-metre disciplines. She became World Champion at the 2010 ISSF World Shooting Championships in the 300m Prone Rifle event, matching Charlotte Jakobsen's World Record score. [1] She is particularly known for her achievements in the 300 m prone and 300 m three-position events. [2]

Career

Bucher started competing in 2008. [1]

In 2009 she was selected to represent Switzerland at the European Championships in Osijek, where she placed 4th in the 300m Prone Rifle event. [1]

She was selected for the 2010 ISSF World Shooting Championships in Munich, where she became World Champion in the 300m Rifle Prone event and placed 8th in the 300m Rifle Three Position event. Her Prone score of 599ex600 matched the World Record. [3] [4] [5] [6]

At the 2010 Lapua European Cup Final, she won silver in the 300m Prone Rifle event. [7]

At the 2011 European Championships in Belgrade, she became European Champion in the 300m Prone Rifle event and won Silver in the Three-Position event. [1] [8]

At the 2014 Lapua European Cup in Zagreb, she won silver in the Prone and bronze in the three-position event. [9]

At the 2015 Lapua European Cup in Lahti, Bucher won silver in the 300m Prone Rifle event. [10]

At the 2015 European Championships in Maribor, she won bronze in the 300m Prone Rifle event. [1] [11]

National achievements

Swiss Championships: Bucher won multiple gold medals in the 300 m prone event and achieved top placements in the three-position match. [12]

Aargau Cantonal Shooting Festival: In 2012, she was crowned shooting queen over 300 m and emphasized the importance of concentration and patience in the sport. [13]

Rütlischiessen: In 2016, she made history as the first woman to win the traditional Rütlischiessen. [14]

Personal background and club affiliation

Bettina Bucher comes from Schongau in the canton of Lucerne and is a member of the Villmergen shooting club. [15] She trains regularly with her partner Rafael Bereuter, who is also a successful shooter on the national team. [16]

With her impressive career and numerous achievements at both national and international levels, Bettina Bucher is regarded as one of the outstanding figures in Swiss shooting sports.
