Mahendra Kapoor was an Indian playback singer. In a long career spanning decades, his repertoire included popular songs such as Chalo ekbaar phir se Ajnabi ban jayen hum dono (Gumrah) and Neele Gagan ke tale (Hamraaz). His name however became most closely associated with patriotic songs including Mere Desh Ki Dharti in Manoj Kumar's film Upkaar. He considered Mohammad Rafi as his Guru. In 1972, he was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India. He lent his voice to actor Manoj Kumar in most of his films and had a lengthy association with director-producer Baldev Raj Chopra.

Bhojpuri cinema, also known as Bhojiwood, and the Bhollywood, is the segment of Indian cinema dedicated to the production of motion pictures in the Bhojpuri language widely spoken in Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh. Its major production centres are Patna. Bhojpuri cinema has grown in recent years. Bhojpuri cinema also caters to second and third generation emigrants who still speak the language in Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, Suriname, Fiji, Mauritius and South Africa.

Leela Mishra was an Indian actress. She worked as a character actor in over 200 Hindi films for five decades, and is best remembered for playing stock characters such as aunts. She is best known for her role of "mausi" in the blockbuster Sholay (1975), Dil Se Mile Dil (1978), Baton Baton Mein (1979), Rajesh Khanna films such as Palkon Ki Chhaon Mein, Aanchal, Mehbooba, Amar Prem and Rajshri Productions hits such as Geet Gaata Chal (1975), Nadiya Ke Paar (1982) and Abodh (1984). Her career's best performance was in Naani Maa in 1981, for which she received Best Actress award at the age of 73.

Bhojpuri literature includes literature written in Bhojpuri language. Bhojpuri has developed over a course of 1300 years, the development of the language started in 7th century. The earliest form of Bhojpuri can be seen in the writings of Siddha Saints and Charyapada. Distinct literary traditions in Bhojpuri language date back to medieval periods when saints and bhakts of the region adapted a mixed language for their works.

Chhora Ganga Kinare Wala is a 2015 Indian, Bhojpuri language film directed by Rajkumar R. Pandey and produced by Dhirendra Choubey and associate directed by Manoj R Pandey, It stars Pradeep Pandey "Chintu", Kushi Bhat (debut), Ravi Kishan, Rinku Ghosh, Vinay Anand, Awdhesh Mishra and Sanjay Pandey.

The International Bhojpuri Film Award are a set of awards presented annually by Yashi Films International to honour the artistic and technical excellence of professionals in the Bhojpuri film industry. Instituted in 2015, the ceremony is held in different countries around the world every year. The first year of the International Bhojpuri Film Award was commenced in 2015 at Mauritius followed by IBFA 2016 Dubai, IBFA 2017 London, IBFA 2018 Malaysia and IBFA 2019 Singapore.

Dulhan Ganga Paar Ke is a 2018 Indian Bhojpuri-language action drama film directed by Aslam Sheikh and produced by Arvind Anand. The film stars Khesari Lal Yadav as Krishna and Kajal Raghwani as Radha, with Awdhesh Mishra, KK Goswami, Dev Singh, Prakash Jais, Shakeela Majeed, Deepak Sinha, and Brijesh Tripathi in supporting roles. The film was Kriti Yadav's debut as a child actress. Actress Amrapali Dubey made a special appearance in the song "Marad Abhi Baccha Ba".

<i>Mehandi Laga Ke Rakhna 3</i> Bhojpuri Film

Suresh Kumar and Bihar Laga Ke Rakhna 3 is a 2020 Bhojpuri-language film written and directed by Rajnish Mishra and produced by Nishant Ujjwal under banner of "Renu Vijay Films Entertainment" and present by Abhay Sinha and Ease My Trip.com. This film is a remake of the 2014 Tamil film Velaiilla Pattadhari. In this film, Khesari Lal Yadav and Sahar Afsha are in lead roles, while Ritu Singh, Amit Shukla, Shraddha Nawal, Surya Dwivedi, Uday Tiwari, Mahesh Acharya, Neel Kamal Singh, Manoj Tiger, Brijesh Tripathi and others in supporting roles. Amrapali Dubey make special appearance in song "Laga Ke Vaseline".

<i>Khiladi No. 1</i> 2008 Indian film

Khiladi No. 1 is a 2008 Indian Bhojpuri language action drama film directed by Ramana Mogili, written by Rajendra Bharadwaj and produced by B O Subba Reddy. The film stars Dinesh Lal Yadav and Pakhi Hegde in and features Rami Reddy, Mukthar Khan and Manoj Tiger in supporting roles. The soundtrack and score were composed by Dhananjay Mishra. Mohan Chand was the film's cinematographer. The Bhojpuri version was released on 8 August 2008. The film was dubbed into Telugu as Bhairavi and in Hindi as Ghayal Khiladi. The film holds the record for "Most Viewed Bhojpuri Film" on the YouTube channel "T-Series" with 11657414 million views. The film had the biggest opening for a Bhojpuri film and is considered the biggest Bhojpuri hit. The film is based on true events and addresses issues of rape, trafficking and crimes committed against women in India.
