Bhubneshwar Prasad Mehta (born 2 August 1940) is an Indian politician,affiliated to the Communist Party of India. He represented the Hazaribagh constituency of Jharkhand in the 14th Lok Sabha. [1]
Mehta was born in August 2,1940 in a poor farmer family belonging to Koeri community. [2] [3] [4] He worked as a coal union leader in his early days. He is known as Stalin of Jharkhand. He won the 2004 Lok Sabha elections on a CPI ticket,defeating BJP's Yashwant Sinha,who served as the finance minister in the Vajpayee government. However,Mehta lost the next election to Yashwant Sinha.

Yashwant Sinha is an Indian administrator and politician. He served as the Minister of Finance from 1990 until 1991 under Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar and again from March 1998 to July 2002 under Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Babulal Marandi is an Indian politician of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He was the first Chief Minister of Jharkhand and formerly Leader of the Opposition in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. He was the founder and national President of Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik). He was the Member of Parliament in 12th,13th 14th and 15th Lok Sabha from Jharkhand. He was the Union State Minister (MoS) for Forests &Environment of India in the BJP –led National Democratic Alliance Government in 1998 to 2000. He was appointed as Jharkhand BJP president on 04 July 2023.

He won the Bihar Assembly Election in 1995 securing 99,798 votes. Mahto won Vidhan Sabha elections in the year 1980 and 1995. Mahto was also associated with the movement,which started on the question of including Manbhum in West Bengal. He was one of the prominent leader to voice support for the rights of displaced people,who needed rehabilitation after the establishment of Bokaro Steel Plant. For four decades,after coming into existence of Bokaro Assembly constituency in 1977,he remained pivotal in its politics.
