The Big 12 Conference is a college athletic conference headquartered in Irving, Texas. It consists of 16 full-member universities in the states of Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Kansas, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, and West Virginia.
The Texas A&M Aggies are the students, graduates, and sports teams of Texas A&M University. The nickname "Aggie" was once common at land-grant or "ag" (agriculture) schools in many states. The teams are also simply referred to as "A&M" or "Texas Aggies," and the official school colors are maroon and white. The mascot is a rough collie named Reveille.
The 2010–11 Kansas Jayhawks men's basketball team represented the University of Kansas in the 2010–11 NCAA Division I men's basketball season, which was the Jayhawks' 113th basketball season. The head coach was Bill Self, who was serving his 8th year. The team played its home games in Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, Kansas and are members of the Big 12 Conference. They finished the season 35–3, 14–2 in Big 12 play to claim the regular season conference title. They were also champions of the 2011 Big 12 men's basketball tournament. They earned a #1 seed in the Southwest Region in the 2011 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament where they defeated Boston University in the second round and Illinois in the third round to advance to the Sweet Sixteen. They defeated Richmond to advance to the Elite Eight where they were upset by VCU.
The Big 12 Conference Men's Basketball Coach of the Year is a basketball award given to the most outstanding men's basketball head coach in the Big 12 Conference, as chosen by a panel of sports writers and broadcasters. The award was first given following the 1996–97 season, the first year of the conference's existence, to Kansas Jayhawks head coach Roy Williams.

Tim Tadlock is a collegiate baseball coach and former player. He served as head coach of the Grayson Vikings representing Grayson County College (GCC) (1997–2005) and the Texas Tech Red Raiders representing Texas Tech University (2013–present). Tadlock guided the Grayson Vikings to back-to-back National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I World Series titles in 1999 and 2000. In 2014, Tadlock led his alma mater to their first College World Series appearance and received the Skip Bertman Award, presented to the college baseball coach of the year by the College Baseball Foundation.

UCLA defeated Mississippi State two games to none to claim their first championship.
The 2016–17 Kansas Jayhawks men's basketball team represented the University of Kansas in the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season, which was the Jayhawks' 119th basketball season. The Jayhawks, members of the Big 12 Conference, played their home games at Allen Fieldhouse and were led by 14th year head coach Bill Self. They finished the season 31–5, 16–2 in Big 12 play to win their 13th consecutive Big 12 regular season title, tying UCLA's record for consecutive regular season conference titles. They lost in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 tournament to TCU. They received and at-large bid to the NCAA tournament as a No. 1 seed in the Midwest region. The appearance was their 28th consecutive appearance, the longest active streak at the time and the longest ever in NCAA Tournament history. It was the final official appearance in the streak as their tournament appearance in the following season was vacated by the NCAA. In the Tournament, they defeated UC Davis and Michigan State to advance to the Sweet Sixteen. There they defeated Purdue before losing in the Elite Eight to Oregon.
The 2016 Big 12 Conference football season will represent the 21st season of Big 12 Conference football, taking place during the 2016 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The season will begin with non-conference play on Friday, September 2, 2016, with Kansas State traveling to face Stanford. Big 12 Conference play will begin on Saturday, September 17, 2016, with Iowa State traveling to play TCU.
Eric Rigoberto Gutierrez is an American college baseball coach and former professional baseball first basemen. He is the volunteer assistant coach at Texas Tech University. He played college baseball at Texas Tech University from 2013 to 2016. He was drafted in the 20th round by the Miami Marlins in the 2016 Major League Baseball draft, where he would play in their organization until 2018.
