The 2023 West Virginia Mountaineers baseball team represent the West Virginia University during the 2023 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Mountaineers play their home games at Monongalia County Ballpark as a member of the Big 12 Conference. They are led by head coach Randy Mazey, in his 11th season at West Virginia.

The Mountaineers traveled to Salt River Fields at Talking Stick in Scottsdale, Arizona to take part in an MLB Spring Training game against the Arizona Diamondbacks on January 27. On May 20, West Virginia was awarded a share in the Big 12 championship alongside the Texas Longhorns.

His career college football coaching record stands at 172–121–2. In 2011, Rodriguez worked as an analyst for CBS Sports.

The 2008 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl was a college football bowl game. It was part of the 2007–2008 Bowl Championship Series (BCS) of the 2007 NCAA Division I FBS football season. Played annually since 1971, first at Sun Devil Stadium on the campus of Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona through 2006, the game was played at 8 p.m. EST on January 2, 2008, at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. The game featured the fourth ranked (BCS), Big 12 champion Oklahoma Sooners hosting the ninth ranked (BCS), Big East champion West Virginia Mountaineers. West Virginia defeated Oklahoma by a score of 48–28. The contest was televised on Fox.

The West Virginia Mountaineers men's basketball team represents West Virginia University in NCAA Division I college basketball competition. They are a member of the Big 12 Conference. WVU has won 13 conference tournament championships, and has 31 appearances in the NCAA tournament, including two Final Fours, most recently in 2010. The Mountaineers have also appeared in 16 National Invitation Tournaments (NIT), and have won the tournament twice, in 1942 and 2007. The 1942 NIT Championship is claimed by West Virginia as a National Championship.

Hawley Field is a baseball field in Morgantown, West Virginia, United States. Along with Appalachian Power Park in Charleston, West Virginia, it served as one of two home venues of the West Virginia Mountaineers baseball team before the new Monongalia County Ballpark opened in April 2015. Randy Mazey has been the team's head coach since prior to the 2013 season. As of the end of the 2023 season, the program has appeared in 14 NCAA tournaments. The 1996 Big East Conference baseball tournament was held at Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium in Norwich, Connecticut. This was the twelfth annual Big East Conference baseball tournament. The 2016 Cactus Bowl was a post-season American college football bowl game played on January 2, 2016 at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona. This was the twenty-seventh edition of the Cactus Bowl, which was originally known as the Copper Bowl, Insight.com Bowl, the Insight Bowl, and the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl. Sponsored by the Motel 6 chain of budget motels, the game was officially known as the Motel 6 Cactus Bowl.

They finished the season 10–3, 7–2 in Big 12 play to finished in a tie for second place. They received an invitation to the Russell Athletic Bowl where they lost to Miami.

The 2016 Big 12 Conference baseball tournament was held from May 25 through 29 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The annual tournament determined the conference champion of the Division I Big 12 Conference for college baseball. The TCU Horned Frogs won the Tournament Championship, and as the winner of the tournament, TCU earned the league's automatic bid to the 2016 NCAA Division I baseball tournament.
