The Big Ten Tournament Most Outstanding Player is an annual award given out at the conclusion of the Big Ten Conference Tournament to the best player in the championship as voted by a media panel and the head coaches of each team. [1]

The Most Outstanding Player was first awarded in 2014 and is a successor to the CCHA Most Valuable Player in Tournament which was discontinued after the conference dissolved due to the 2013–14 NCAA conference realignment. [2] [3]

The Omaha Mavericks Men's Ice Hockey team, also called the Nebraska Omaha Mavericks and UNO Mavericks, is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college ice hockey program that represents the University of Nebraska Omaha. The Mavericks are a member of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC). They play home games at Baxter Arena, an on-campus facility that opened in 2015. The Mavericks hockey program was started in 1997; the team has qualified for the NCAA tournament on four occasions, in 2006, 2011, 2015, and 2021. During the 2015 tournament, the team made their first appearance in the tournament semifinals, branded by the NCAA as the Frozen Four. The Mavericks competed in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) between 1999 and 2010 before joining the WCHA for the 2010–11 season. Penn State Nittany Lions men's ice hockey, formerly known as the Penn State Icers, is a college ice hockey program that represents the Pennsylvania State University. Prior to the 2012–13 season the program was designated a club sport and competed at the ACHA Division I level. PSU was previously a member of the Eastern States Collegiate Hockey League (ESCHL, although the team competed as an independent ACHA D-I member for the 2011–12 season before moving to the NCAA D-I level. The 2010–11 Michigan Wolverines men's ice hockey team was the Wolverines' 89th season. They represented the University of Michigan in the 2010–11 NCAA Division I men's ice hockey season. The team was coached by Red Berenson and played their home games at Yost Ice Arena, although they took one regular-season home game against archrival Michigan State to Michigan Stadium, drawing the largest crowd in the sport's history. The team earned the 2010–11 Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) regular season championship and advanced to the Frozen Four of the 2011 NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Tournament. Following the CCHA season, the team announced that they intended to move from the CCHA to the newly formed Big Ten Conference Hockey League in 2013.

The National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) is an NCAA men's Division I hockey conference formed on July 9, 2011. The league began playing for the 2013–14 season, the same season that the Big Ten Conference began competition, as a combination of six previous members of the WCHA and two of the CCHA. The league is headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

The CCHA Player of the Year is an annual award given out at the conclusion of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association regular season to the best player in the conference as voted by the coaches of each CCHA team. The award went on hiatus after the original CCHA was disbanded after the 2012–13 season, and was reinstated when the league resumed play in 2021–22.
