Bill Hayes (born July 30,1952) is a former member of the Ohio House of Representatives,serving the 72nd District from 2011 to 2016. [1]
The 1876 United States presidential election was the 23rd quadrennial presidential election,held on Tuesday,November 7,1876,in which Republican nominee Rutherford B. Hayes faced Democrat Samuel J. Tilden. It was one of the most contentious presidential elections in American history. Its resolution involved negotiations between the Republicans and Democrats,resulting in the Compromise of 1877,and on March 2,1877,the counting of electoral votes by the House and Senate occurred,confirming Hayes as President. It was the second of five U.S. presidential elections in which the winner did not win a plurality of the national popular vote. This is the only time both major party nominees were incumbent US governors.

Henry B. Payne was an American politician from Ohio. Moving to Ohio from his native New York in 1833,he quickly established himself in law and business while becoming a local leader in Democratic politics. After serving in the Ohio Senate,Payne was elected to a single term in the United States House of Representatives in 1874. In the House,he worked unsuccessfully for a compromise in the debate over whether all of the nation's currency should be backed by gold. He was defeated for reelection,but served on the Electoral Commission that convened in early 1877 to resolve the dispute over the results of the 1876 presidential election.

The Ohio State Buckeyes football team competes as part of the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision,representing Ohio State University in the East Division of the Big Ten Conference. Ohio State has played their home games at Ohio Stadium in Columbus,Ohio since 1922. The Buckeyes are recognized by the university and NCAA as having won eight national championships along with 41 conference championships,10 division championships,10 undefeated seasons,and six perfect seasons. Seven players have received the Heisman Trophy,with the program holding the distinction of having the only two-time winner of the award.
Fort Hayes is a military post in Columbus,Ohio,United States. Created by an act of the United States Congress on July 11,1862,the site was also known as the Columbus Arsenal until 1922,when the site was renamed after former Ohio Governor and later 19th U.S. President Rutherford B. Hayes. Beginning in 2007,the property was primarily used for the Columbus School District's Fort Hayes Metropolitan Education Center and bus depot. Currently the 391st Military Police Battalion and the 375th Criminal Investigations Division of the U.S. Army Reserve use the facility,but the last military presence on the property was in 2009. The military is building a new army reserve center in Whitehall,which will end a century and a half of military presence at Fort Hayes.

The Ohio State University was founded in 1870 as a land-grant university in accordance with the Morrill Act of 1862 under the name of Ohio Agricultural and Mechanical College. The school was originally situated within a farming community located on the northern edge of Columbus,and was intended to matriculate students of various agricultural and mechanical disciplines. The university opened its doors to 24 students on September 17,1873. In 1878,the first class of six men graduated. The first woman graduated the following year. In 1900,in light of its expanded focus,the college permanently changed its name to the now-familiar "The Ohio State University". Ohio State began accepting graduate students in the 1880s,with the university awarding its first master's and doctoral degrees in 1886 and 1890 respectively. 1891 saw the founding of Ohio State's law school.
John Sherman was a politician from Lancaster,Ohio during the American Civil War and into the late nineteenth century. A member of the Republican Party,he served in both houses of the U.S. Congress. He also served as Secretary of the Treasury and Secretary of State. Sherman sought the Republican presidential nomination three times,coming closest in 1888,but was never chosen by the party.
