Bill Majoros is a Canadian musician, currently a songwriter, lead vocalist and multi-instrumentalist for the psychedelic pop act The Foreign Films. [1]

Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Majoros has toured and recorded with many Canadian acts including The Nines, Flux A.D., Universal Honey, The Paper Airplane Company, Altogether Morris and The Cloudsmen. [1]

From 1997 to 2004, he worked as main writer & guitarist in Flux A.D., winning a Hamilton Music Award in 2004 for "Best Alternative Album of the Year". [2] Fellow members in Flux A.D. included Julie Fader, and Graham Walsh from Holy Fuck. [3] Majoros's songs gained support from music luminaries Daniel Lanois, Robbie Robertson and Giles Martin. After Flux AD splintered into various projects Majoros began to release new music as The Foreign Films. [3]

The Foreign Films' debut double length CD Distant Star was released in 2007. [1] The 22 song LP was nominated for "Album of the Year" at the Hamilton Music Awards in 2007. [4] He was also nominated as guitar player of the year.

The Foreign Films released a seven-song follow-up EP in November 2011. He has have since released several follow-up singles, including "Glitter"/"Night Without the Day", "Sweet Sorrow"/"You Were My Summer Sun" and "Fall of the Summer Heart".

Again, under the name The Foreign Films, Bill Majoros recorded a 31-song, six-sided vinyl LP "The Record Collector", releasing one "side" at a time. The triple LP deluxe vinyl edition was released in 2018 to critical acclaim, topping many "best of the year lists".

Guest musicians include Kori Pop Aaron Goldstein, City and Colour, Joel Stouffer, Dragonette and Rebecca Everette. In the same timeframe, he also collaborated with Steve Eggers, (The Nines). Four albums (Night Surfer and the Cassette Kids, Alejandro's Visions, Circles in the Snow and Colour Radio-American Transistor have emerged. They have received positive critical feedback from such legendary musicians as Andy Partridge (XTC), Michael Nesmith (Monkees) and Jason Falkner (Paul McCartney, Beck).

In 2017 and 2018 Bill Majoros was nominated for musician of the year for the Hamilton Ontario Arts Awards.

Majoros has toured with and played support shows for artists such as Alanis Morissette, The Tragically Hip, Echo and the Bunnymen, Jewel, Ron Sexsmith, 5440, Fountains of Wayne, Big Sugar, Blue Rodeo, Robyn Hitchcock, The Goo Goo Dolls and Pete Best etc.

As well as recording and playing live with The Foreign Films, Majoros produced Mary Avery's album The Fire and S.G Sinnicks. He also plays guitar with Rebecca Everette.

An extended play record, usually referred to as an EP, is a musical recording that contains more tracks than a single but fewer than an album or LP record. Contemporary EPs generally contain four or five tracks, and are considered "less expensive and time-consuming" for an artist to produce than an album. Isle of Wight Festival 1970 UK music festival

The Isle of Wight Festival 1970 was held between 26 and 31 August 1970 at Afton Down, an area on the western side of the Isle of Wight in England. It was the last of three consecutive music festivals to take place on the island between 1968 and 1970 and often acknowledged as the largest musical event of its time, with a larger attendance than Woodstock. Although estimates vary, Guinness World Records estimated 600,000 to 700,000 people attended. It was organised and promoted by local brothers, Ron and Ray Foulk through their company Fiery Creations Ltd and their brother Bill Foulk. Ron Smith was site manager and Rikki Farr acted as compere.

Chico Hamilton American musician

Foreststorn "Chico" Hamilton, was an American jazz drummer and bandleader. He came to prominence as sideman for Lester Young, Gerry Mulligan, Count Basie, and Lena Horne. Hamilton became a bandleader, first with a quintet featuring the cello as a lead instrument, an unusual choice for a jazz band in the 1950s, and subsequently leading bands that performed cool jazz, post bop, and jazz fusion.

Kenny Anderson, known primarily by his stage name King Creosote, is an independent singer-songwriter from Fife, Scotland. To date, Anderson has released over forty albums, with his latest full length, Astronaut Meets Appleman, released in 2016. Anderson is also a member of Scottish-Canadian band The Burns Unit. In 2011, Anderson's collaborative album with Jon Hopkins, Diamond Mine, was nominated for the Mercury Prize and the Scottish Album of the Year Award. Big Stick (band)

Big Stick is an American pop/rock/art-rock/punk/industrial band/duo formed in New York in 1985 by John Gill and Yanna Trance. Known mostly for their unconventional approach to songwriting and recording, Big Stick's music varies and jumps through different genres and categories. Big Stick achieved domestic and foreign cult status with their rock-punk-pop debut release, the Drag Racing EP in 1986. It was instantly recognizable for Yanna Trance's catchy voice repeatedly speaking the line "In the summer I wear my tube top, and Eddie takes me to the dragstrip" throughout the track. It was one of the 142 singles in BBC DJ John Peel's Record Box that he'd picked to leave behind in case of a fire. "Drag Racing" was later featured in the "John Peel's Record Box" BBC TV production and aired in conjunction with the UK Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame awards. Artist extraordinaire Robert Williams also picked "Drag Racing" for his "Chrome, Smoke & Fire" Hot Rod Music Picture Disc Compilation.

Julie Fader Musical artist

Julie Fader is a Canadian musician, songwriter and visual artist, best known as a keyboard player and backing vocalist for Sarah Harmer, Chad VanGaalen and Great Lake Swimmers. In September 2009, she released Outside In, her debut album as a solo artist.

Steve Parkin is an Australian musician and singer-songwriter. Born in United Kingdom and raised in Perth. He is a founder member of 1990s Perth garage pop three-piece, Autopilot, who released two EPs, Pure Gold Baby in 1998 and Out of the Sun in 2001. He was also a band member of Basement Birds. He co-wrote material for Eskimo Joe's 2009 album Inshalla, which peaked at number one on the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Albums Chart. One of the tracks, "Foreign Land", won 'Most Played Australian Work' at the APRA Awards of 2010.

The Nines is a Canadian power pop band formed in Oakville, Ontario in 1991. The core of the band is multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and primary songwriter Steve Eggers. "Glitter" is a song recorded by Japanese recording girl group Perfume for their third studio album, JPN (2011). It was written, composed, arranged, and produced by Japanese musician and Capsule member Yasutaka Nakata. The song was included as a B-side track for the group's single, "Spice". Musically, "Glitter" was described as a technopop song, influenced by dance music. Two versions were released; the original composition, and the remix that appeared on the parent album. It has appeared as the theme song for one commercial and television series in Japan.

David Wrench is a Welsh musician, songwriter, producer and mixer based in London. His work has been nominated for Grammys, Brit Awards and shortlisted for numerous Mercury Prize nominations including the 2017 winning album Process by Sampha. Wrench has been the recipient of the BBC Radio Cymru C2 Producer of the Year award five times in six years between 2007 and 2012 and has received Music Producer Guild Awards (MPGs) including Mix Engineer of the Year 2016 and 2019.
