William Smith (born December 11,1934) is a Canadian businessman,former politician,and former professional football player. Smith was a mayor of Edmonton,Alberta from 1995 until 2004. Smith was a Grey Cup champion with the Edmonton Eskimos.
Smith was born in 1934 in Edmonton,Alberta. Smith played for the Eskimos from 1956 to 1963 as a defensive back. Smith was named a West All-Star in 1960.[1][2]
Smith was first elected in 1995 after defeating incumbent Mayor Jan Reimer and was re-elected in 1998 and 2001. As Mayor,Smith was known as "Booster Bill" for his efforts in promoting Edmonton as the "Greatest City in the Greatest Province in the Greatest Country."[3] During his term in office,Smith is credited with being instrumental in bringing the IAAF World Championships in Athletics,the Juno Awards and the World Masters Games to Edmonton. Smith was defeated by Councillor Stephen Mandel in the 2004 Edmonton municipal election.
After his mayoralty ended,Smith became a director of BioNeutra,a producer of VitaFiber,a natural fiber-based food sweetener.[4] Smith is also a director of Imperial Equities.[5]
Donald Ross Getty was a Canadian politician who served as the 11th premier of Alberta between 1985 and 1992. A member of the Progressive Conservatives, he served as Energy Minister and Federal and Intergovernmental Affairs Minister in the government of Peter Lougheed before leaving politics for the private sector in 1979. He returned to politics six years later to enter the Progressive Conservative leadership contest resulting from Lougheed's retirement. He defeated two other candidates, and became Premier November 1, 1985.

Eric Tillman is an American-born Canadian football executive who is the vice president of football operations for the Atlantic Schooners. He was previously the general manager of the BC Lions (1993–94), Toronto Argonauts, Ottawa Renegades (2002–04), Saskatchewan Roughriders (2006–2010), Edmonton Eskimos (2010–2012), and Hamilton Tiger-Cats (2016–2018). As a general manager, Tillman has won the Grey Cup three times. In addition to his career as an executive, Tillman has also worked as a CFL analyst for TSN, the CBC, and Rogers Sportsnet in 1998, 2000, and 2005.
Edmonton Rugby Foot-ball Club was an early Canadian football team based in Edmonton, Alberta. The team was founded in 1907 as the Edmonton Rugby Foot-ball Club. The club was renamed the Edmonton Esquimaux in 1908 and again as the Edmonton Eskimos in 1910. Later it took the name Edmonton Boosters, then the Edmonton Hi-Grads in 1936, then yet another incarnation of the Eskimos before ceasing operation as the Second World War began. The team is neither affiliated with the current franchise, the Edmonton Elks, nor forms part of its history.

Miles played offence, defence, and special teams, during his eleven-year career with the Eskimos. Miles is a member of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame, the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame, and the Edmonton Eskimos Wall of Honour. In November 2006, Miles was voted one of the CFL's Top 50 players (#48) of the league's modern era by Canadian sports network TSN.

First the Calgary Rugby Football Union (CRFU) was created on September 29, 1908. The CRFU would play the champion from Edmonton to determine the winner of the Alberta Rugby Football League for 4 seasons from 1907 to 1910. After that the Alberta Rugby Football Union was formed in 1911. It joined the Manitoba Rugby Football Union and the Saskatchewan Rugby Football Union to form the Western Canada Rugby Football Union (WCRFU) in 1911.

Bayne Norrie is a retired Canadian football player who was drafted in the 1st round of the 1965 CFL Draft by the BC Lions. Bayne Norrie, played for the Edmonton Eskimos for 8 years and participated in three straight Grey Cups from 1973 to 1975 and won one Grey Cup with Edmonton in 1975. Bayne had an illustrious college football career at Queen's University and was inducted into the Queens University Sports and Football Hall of Fame in 1983.
