The Edmonton Elks are a professional Canadian football team based in Edmonton, Alberta. The club competes in the Canadian Football League (CFL) as a member of the league's West Division and plays their home games at Commonwealth Stadium. The Elks were founded in 1949 as the Edmonton Eskimos and have won the Grey Cup championship fourteen times, most recently in 2015 and the most of any CFL club based in Western Canada. The team has a rivalry with the Calgary Stampeders and is one of the three community-owned teams in the CFL. The team discontinued using the Eskimos name in 2020, with the new name Elks formally announced on June 1, 2021.

Miles is a member of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame, the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame, and the Edmonton Eskimos Wall of Honour. In November 2006, Miles was voted one of the CFL's Top 50 players (#48) of the league's modern era by Canadian sports network TSN.

Richie Hall is a defensive assistant coach for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League (CFL). Michael Joseph King was a Canadian football player who played for the Edmonton Eskimos and Toronto Argonauts. He won the Grey Cup with the Eskimos in 1954, 1955 and 1956. He was born in Toronto and died in Edmonton at the age of 93 from pneumonia in 2018.
Rollin Wayne "Rollie" Prather was a Canadian football player who played for the Edmonton Eskimos. He won the Grey Cup with them in 1954. Born in Eureka, Kansas, the son of Raymond Lealand and Irene (Bailey) Prather, he previously played football at and attended Kansas State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in geology. In 1980, Prather was working as a geologist and served as vice-president of Columbia Gas Development of Canada, Ltd., residing in Edmonton. Prather died at his home in Calgary in 1996.
Laurence James Hodgson is a Canadian football player who played for the Edmonton Eskimos and BC Lions. He won the Grey Cup with the Eskimos in 1954, 1955 and 1956. Hodgson also played ice hockey for the Edmonton Oil Kings of the Western Canada Junior Hockey League in the 1951–1952 season, as a goaltender.
Connell Vincent Kelly was a Canadian football player who played for the Edmonton Eskimos. He won the Grey Cup with the Eskimos in 1955 and 1956. Kelly was raised and played junior football in Edmonton. He died in 1981.
Michael Kmech was a Canadian football player who played for the Edmonton Eskimos. He won the Grey Cup with the Eskimos in 1956. He was born in Lamont, Alberta. Kmech died in Edmonton, Alberta on February 23, 2022, at the age of 87.
Waymon Alridge is a former professional Canadian football wide receiver and slotback who played for the Calgary Stampeders, Ottawa Rough Riders, and Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League (CFL). From 1983 to 1986, Alridge played in 29 regular season games, mostly with the Rough Riders. He made 95 catches for 1,674 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns over the course of his career. He played college football for the UNLV Rebels of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Randy Ambrosie is the 14th and current commissioner of the Canadian Football League (CFL). Ambrosie played Canadian football professionally as an offensive guard for the CFL's Calgary Stampeders, Toronto Argonauts, and Edmonton Eskimos. He was selected with the second overall pick in the 1985 CFL Draft by the Stampeders. Over the course of a nine-season career, he played in 142 professional games and became a Grey Cup champion. Ambrosie played college football at the University of Manitoba.
